Adhinathar Jain Temple, Kosapalayam, Thiruvannamalai
Adhinathar Jain Temple is located in Kosapalayam, a locality in Arani town in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. In olden days, it was called as Thirumalai samuthram. The Temple is south facing and has all Dravidian temple art features like Garbhagriha, Vimana, Arthamandapam, Maha Mandapam and Mugamandapam. The Temple has an entranceway and surrounded by walls on all sides. The Jinalaya is believed to be 600 years old.






In the sanctum, white marble made Shri Adhinathar, absolutely incised idol, was established on a beautiful tall plinth. The idol had features like half-opened eye-lid and is in padmasana yoga posture on a lotus. The old Moolavar stone plate carving was in the temple. It has eight features of Samavasaran Jinar and might belong to 15th Century.






The sanctum was crowned by two tiers Vimana with shikhara and Kalasha on the peak. And four Thirthankars idols in sitting posture at the bottom tier and four idols in the standing posture at the top tier are placed beautifully. Next Pavilion consists of a platform with Utsava idols. On either side of platforms have metal idols of important Thirthankars, Nava devatha, Panchaparameshti, Sruthaskandam, Mahameru, Nantheeswara Deepam model and some Yaksha, Yakshis are exhibited appropriately.





A white marble made Parswanathar idol, granite stone made Brahmadevar and Kooshmandini was also arranged on it. All are secured tightly with doors. The Mugamandapam porch has beautiful painting of Jinar life events, Samavasaran circular layout and pilgrimage places of Jains. Three galleries on the fore-top have Shri Adhinathar flanked by Mahaveerar and Parswanathar lime mortar statues and also two Yakshis of Shri Padmavathy Devi and Shri Dharmadevi idols.





On the north-east side of the Temple, Twenty Four Thirthankars Marble Idols are placed under a beautiful Vimana. It resembles like Sammedh Sigarji holy Tanks in the Parshwanath range at Madhuvan. And a miniature of small size Vinthiagiri Mountain at Shravanabelagola with while marble Bahubali statue also located in the temple. 





A Manasthampam, an altar, Navagraha, Thirthankar statues platform and Kalasha Mandapam of 16 pillar support are located in the open corridor. All Jain poojas and rituals are conducted and festivals are celebrated regularly. Adhinathar Jain Temple is located in Kosapalayam, a locality in Arani town in Thiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu. Nearest Railway Station is located at Arani and Nearest Airport is located at Chennai.
