Santhinathar Jain Temple, Pillur, Thiruvannamalai
Santhinathar
Jain Temple is located in Pillur Village near Kappalur in Thiruvannamalai District of
Tamilnadu. The Temple is located at about 34 Kms from Thiruvannamalai Town. It
is believed that an ancient Jain Temple existed here and got destructed due to
nature fury. As the evidence of above belief, two idols of Santhinathar and Brahmadevar
are found under the earth in this village.
The
natives unearth the idols and proposed to build a new
Jinalaya. After taking substantial efforts they built a Sanctum
crowned by a Vimana, Arthamandapam with the guidance of “Shri Lakshmisena
Swamiji, Melsithamur” and “Shri Dhavalakeerthi swamiji, Kshethra
Arihanthagiri, Tirumalai”.
The Temple
is located at about 34 Kms from Thiruvannamalai Town. One has to travel about
32 Kms in the Thiruvannamalai - Polur road and take a diversion towards
west and travel for another 2 Kms to reach this Temple.
The
Temple is located at about 32 Kms from Chetpet, 33 Kms from Arani, 34 Kms from
Thiruvannamalai and 62 Kms from Vandavasi. Nearest Railway Station is located
at Thiruvannamalai and Nearest Airport is located at Chennai.
