Adhi Varaha Perumal Temple is dedicated to Hindu God
Vishnu located at Kallidaikurichi in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This
place is also called as Kalyanapuri and Tirukarandhai. Kallidaikurichi is
located on the Thirunelveli - Papanasam Highway on the Southern Banks of
Tamaraibarani river. The Temple is believed to be around 850 years old. Muthu
Swamy Dikshidar has composed songs about this Lord. This place is also called
as Varaha Kshetram.

The temple is open from 7.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and
from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Festivals
Chithirai Brahmmotsavam in April-May, Vaikasi Vasanthotsavam,
Avani Pavitrotsavam, 20day Utsavam in Margazhi, Swing festival in connection
with Aadi Pooram in July-August, Navarathri in September-October and Vaikunda
Ekadasi in December-January are the festivals celebrated in the temple. There
are a minimum of 40 Garuda Seva at this temple annual, one of the highest in
the country.
Singers
One of the Tri Murthies of Carnatic Music,
Muthuswamy Dikshidar has composed Lakshmi Varaha Bajaham Krithis (Abhogi Raga)
about this Lord where he refers to this Lord as ‘Tamaraibarani Theera
Kubera Prathistitham’. Recently, Kallidai Vasan, a longtime resident of this
place, has composed 50 songs on Aadhi Varaha Perumal of Kallidaikurichi that is
presented at this temple regularly. The songs titled ‘Vasamalargal’ were
launched on the 2nd Saturday of Puratasi in 2006.
Prayers
Devotees pray for success in dispute concerning land
and prosperity. Devotees perform special Tirumanjanam for Lord offering sweet
pudding-Sarkarai Pongal- and arrange Garuda Seva – Lord appearing on His eagle
vehicle Garuda.

Kallidaikurichi is located on the Southern bank of
the river Thamirabarani at about 12 Kms West of Cheranmahadevi, 8 Kms from Veeravanallur,
4 Kms from Ambasamudram, 43 kms from Thirunelveli, 210 Kms from Madurai and 147
Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is located very close to the bus
stop. Nearest Railway Station is located at Ambasamudram. Nearest Airport
is located at Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.
