Bagalamukhi Devi Temple is a unique temple for the goddess Bagalamukhi in South India which is located at Kallidaikurichi, Thirunelveli District. Sree Bagalamukhi Devi Temple in Kallidaikurichi is located at 8°39'26.5"N 77°27'12.2"E or 8.657357, 77.453395.
Legends
In Hinduism there are ten forms of manifestation which is known as Dasa Maha Vidya. Satwa guna form of manifestation is found in Mathangi, Bhuvaneswari, Tripurasundari, Mahalakshmi forms. Rajas guna form of manifestation is found in Mahakali, Tara, Bhairavi and Chinnamasta forms. Tamas guna form of manifestation is found in Dhoomavathi form. Goddess Bagalamukhi Devi form can be pleased easily. In North India she is known as Pitambara. Goddess Bagalamukhi has temples at Himachal Pradesh, Datia in Madhya Pradesh, Nalkheda at Shajapur and Newar city of Patan. The quality of Tamas is putting an end to the evil spirits, previous birth, poverty and ill effects.
It is considered that Sree Bagalamukhi Devi is the powerful god among Dasa Maha Vidya because Tamas incarnation, Mahadeva had worshipped her. Madan, a demon, lived in this world. He did penance and obtained a boon namely Vak Siddhi i.e., the things will happen as he says. He had killed many people by using the boon and his atrocities grew day by day. The Devas began to fear him and prayed towards this goddess for rescuing them. Bagalamukhi held the tongue of the demon which eventually put the demon speechless and destroyed the demon.
History
Sree Suryamangalam Tantric Vidya Peetam decided to construct this temple here and made plans for the same. In 2011 this temple’s foundation stone had been laid by his Holiness Poojya Sri Sri Sri Jayendrasaraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji.
The Temple
A temple for Sree Bagalamukhi Devi is rarely found in India and this was built recently by Sri Suryamangalam Tantric Vidya Peetam. Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetathipathi Jagadguru Sri Jayendrasaraswathi Swamigal blessed and laid the foundation stone. Sri Prathyangira Devi, Sri Umamaheshwaran, Sri Uchchishta Ganapathy, Naga Devatha and Navagraha are the other deities found at this temple. In most of the temples poojas for the lords and goddesses are performed in accordance with Aagama Sastra Vidhi or Vedic Sastra Vidhi. But at this temple poojas are performed in accordance with Tantric Vidhi.
Prayers
It is believed that this goddess will solve the enmity problems and black magic. To relieve from Black magic devotees perform Yagam during Amavasya day (new moon day) here. To relieve from Pithru Sapam or previous birth sins on Suklashtami day devotees are doing Sarvaroga Samana mantra homam here.    
Connectivity
Kallidaikurichi is located on the Southern bank of the river Thamirabarani at about 12 Kms West of Cheranmahadevi, 8 Kms from Veeravanallur, 4 Kms from Ambasamudram, 43 kms from Thirunelveli, 210 Kms from Madurai and 147 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. Nearest Railway Station is located at Ambasamudram. Nearest Airport is located at Thiruvananthapuram and Madurai.
