Mehanadhar Temple (Lalithambigai Temple), Tirumeeyachur, Thiruvarur
Mehanadhar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Tirumeeyachur Village in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is also called as Lalithambigai Temple.  Lalitha Sahasranamam is said to have originated here. Presiding deity is called as Thirumeni Nathar / Meganathar / Muyarchi Natheswarar / Migura Aruneswarar. Mother is called as Maha Lalitha Thiripurasundari / Soundara Nayaki / Shanta Nayaki / Lalithambika.










Rajendra Chola, Kunthavai Naachiyaar and Sembian Mahadevi are said to have renovated this ancient temple. It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar. This is the 173rd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 56th Shiva Sthalam on the southern bank of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.

Temple Opening Time
The temple is open from 7.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Festivals
Ratha Sapthami is grandly celebrated in the temple in January-February. All Shiva and Devi related festivals are also observed.
Literary Mention
The glory of Lord of the temple is praised by Saint Gnanasambandhar in his Thevaram hymns. This is the 173rd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 56th Shiva Sthalam on the southern bank of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.
Tirugnanasambandar describes the feature of the deity as:
நீல வடிவர் மிடறு நெடியர் நிகரில்லார்
கோல வடிவு தமதாங் கொள்கை யறிவொண்ணார்
காலர் கழலர் கரியி னுரியர் மழுவாளர்
மேலர் மதியர் விதியர் மீயச் சூராரே
Prayers
Devotees perform special pujas and Homas dedicated to Lord Meganatha Swami on their birth star days for longevity. 60th and 80th birth days are celebrated in Lord’s shrine. Women awaiting marriage pray to Lord Kalyana Sundarar with garlands for early happy results. Those suffering from diseases offer Pirandai rice on lotus leaf as Nivedhana and eat it as Lord’s Prasad for relief. Devotees perform abishek and archanas to Lord and Mother and also offer vastras. Those chanting Lalitha Sahasranama and Lalitha Navarathna Mala sitting in the Mother’s shrine are bestowed with all grace and prosperity in life.

Connectivity
This Shiva Sthalam is located at about 2 Kms from Peralam, 25 Kms from Thiruvarur, 19 Kms from Mayiladuthurai, 5 Kms from Koothanur, 7 Kms from Thirupampuram, 45 Kms from Nagapattinam and 136 Kms from Trichy. There is another Paadal Petra Sthalam known as Tirumeeyachur Ilamkovil inside this main temple. The Temple is located on the bus route Mayiladuthurai to Thiruvarur (Via Peralam) and also on Kumbakonam to Peralam bus route. Bus facility is available conveniently between Mayiladuthurai and Peralam. Nearest Railway Station is located at Peralam and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
