Agneeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Neyveli Village near Poondi in Thiruvallur District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Agneeswarar and Mother is called as Sri Lalithambigai. It is believed that Presiding Deity is being worshipped by rishis and siddhars every day. This place is considered a Siddhar Adhishtanam with lot of mystic events are taking place. It is said that once upon a time, the temple was surrounded by paddy fields on all four sides and hence the name Nel veli but in due course, it came to be called as Neyveli. This Temple has similar spiritual significance to that of Kalahasthi for the Sarpa Dhosham remedy.

The Temple
There is an entrance arch is on the south side. The Rajagopuram is yet to be constructed. The temple is facing east. The Temple is situated amidst paddy fields and an approach road has been laid with the donation of lands by many villagers for easy access. Presiding Deity is called as Agneeswarar and is facing east. He is a Swayambu Moorthy. Mother is called as Sri Lalithambigai. Mother is housed in south facing shrine and she is in standing posture with four hands. Lotus on two hands and other two in abaya hastham and Vara hastham.




There are shrines for Radha with Krishnan, Ganapathy, Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar, Vana Durgai, Sandikeswarar, Naga Devar and Naga Devathai with a Child (It was believed that if one worships naga Devathais they will be blessed with Children) and Dhakshinamoorthy is under the Kallala Tree facing south in the outer prakaram. Sthala Vriksham is Kallala Tree (banyan tree that does not put out roots). It is believed that Yakshis are living in the tree hence the tree itself treated as sacred. There are some Laterite stones are seen in between the roots of the tree. These stones might have been used in the original temple.



Theertham associated with this Temple is Agni Theertham and it is situated in the North-Eastern part of this temple. It is believed that the Agni Theertham was created from the third eye of Lord Shiva. It is believed that a holy dip in this pond and worshipping Lord Shiva will eliminate the Sarpa Dhosham. This Temple has similar spiritual significance to that of Kalahasthi for the Sarpa Dhosham remedy.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Neyveli Bus Stop, 4 Kms from Poondi, 10 Kms from Thiruvallur, 12 Kms from Thiruvallur Bus Stand, 14 Kms from Thiruvallur Railway Station, 53 Kms from Chennai and 58 Kms from Chennai Airport. From Thiruvallur, take the road towards Thiruthani / Thirupathi. After 2 Kms, there will be a road (bus route) to Poondi / Uthukottai on the right side which goes along the periphery of the Poondi reservoir (on the left). After 7 Kms on that road, there will be Poondi Junction (Poondi Koot Road). From there, the temple is around 1 Km on the village road towards right.
