Bheemeshwarar Temple, Mudichur – Legends
Manam Mudicha Nallur:
Once, Kameshwaran, a native of this and a devout Shiva devotee, found a Shiva  beautiful Shiva Lingam. He built a small shrine and started worshipping it. Vasuki, daughter of a man called Vishwam from the same village fell in love with Kameshwaran. Both of them wanted to get married to each other but his father was against their wishes. Both of them prayed to Lord Shiva sincerely to convince Vishwam for their marriage. Lord Shiva appeared before Vishwam in the disguise of priest of the Temple and asked him to bring both of them to the Temple. Vishwam brought them to the temple as told by the priest as he owe a huge respect towards the priest. The priest conducted their marriage. Then, Lord Shiva along with his consort Parvathi appeared before them. As Lord Shiva conducted the marriage of Kameshwaran and vasuki. The place came to be called as Manam Mudicha Nallur. Later got corrupted to Mudichur.
Thirumana Sthalam:
The Pallava king deputed one by name Haridas to handle the responsibility of constructing the Mudichur temple. The work was carried out with utmost care and perfection. At this juncture, an aged couple came to the spot after sunset. Haridas gave them food and helped them sleep at the temple mandapam. In the morning, he found the couple wearing the vastras that had been put on the Lord and the Goddess. Realizing that they were no other than the divine couple, Haridas fell at their feet. The couple disappeared after telling that the women who came and worshipped there would get a good husband and an early marriage. Both the daughters of Haridas got married immediately after their prayer requests, it is said. From that day onward, the shrine became a Thirumana Sthalam.
