Chandramouleeswarar Temple, Anna Nagar, Chennai
Chandramouleeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Anna Nagar, well-known locality of Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Chandramouleeswarar and Mother is called as Thirupurasundari.
History
It is believed that there was a temple called Paleeswarar in Anna Nagar during ancient times. The Temple was dilapidated and lost in due course. Directorate of Town and Country Planning, Tamilnadu acquired the land and made plots in 1960s. People found a massive Lingam in the empty plot. People installed the Lingam under a thatched roof. People from the locality met Kanchi Mahaperiyava in 1970 and informed him about the Lingam. Kanchi Mahaperiyava informed the people that the Lingam belonged to Paleeswarar Temple and he named the Lingam as Chandramouleeswarar. Also, he advised the people to make a shrine for Mother Thirupurasundari and other Parivara Deities. The Temple had its first Kumbabishekam in 1978 followed by another Kumbabishekam in 1996 and 2007.
The Temple
The Temple is having 42 feet high 5-tiered Rajagopuram facing southern side. Presiding Deity is called as Chandramouleeswarar and Mother is called as Thirupurasundari. There are shrines for Navagrahas, Dwara Murugan, Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Anjaneya, Kala Bhairavar, Lord Nataraja with his consort Sivakami, Vinayagar, Aiyappan and Chandikeswarar in the Temple premises.

The Temple remains open from 5.30 AM to 11.00 AM and 04.00 PM to 08.30 PM.
Prayers
The Temple is famous for conducting Mrutyunjaya Japam. Devotees also pray to Lord for Child Boon.

The Temple is located at about 500 meters from Anna Nagar 12th Main Road Bus Stop, 500 meters from Thirumangalam Metro Station, 650 meters from Anna Nagar Tower Metro Station, 650 meters from Thirumangalam Junction Bus Stop, 3 Kms from Koyambedu Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, 9 Kms from Egmore Railway Station, 11 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station and 21 Kms from Chennai Airport. The Temple can be easily reached easily either by public transport or by auto rickshaw/taxi, as the temple is located in a prime location of Chennai.
