Kailasanathar Temple, Kovilacheri, Thanjavur
Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kovilacheri Village in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District in Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. The Temple is situated on Kumbakonam to Sethiyathope Route.





The Temple
This is a small east facing temple with one prakaram. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Lord Murugan and Vinayaga can be found at the entrance of the sanctum. There is front Mandapam in front of the Maha Mandapam. Maha Mandapam is shared by both sanctum and Mother Shrine. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found facing the sanctum.




There is an idol of Perumizhalai Kurumba Nayanar in Maha Mandapam facing the sanctum. He is in Anjali Mudra. Guru Pooja of Nayanar is celebrated on Aadi Chithirai. Chandikeswarar can be found in his usual location. Mother is called as Kamakshi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. There is a shrine of Navagrahas in the Temple premises.

The Temple is located at about 3 Kms from Cholapuram, 10 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur, 11 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur Railway Station, 11 Kms from Kumbakonam, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 12 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 48 Kms from Thanjavur and 109 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Kumbakonam to Sethiyathope Route.
