Brahmapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Vaikal Village in Thiruvidaimarudur Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Brahmapureeswarar and Mother is called as Periyanayaki. The Temple is situated on the southern bank of the river Nattaru. This Temple is considered to be the Mukkan Kshetram of Vaikal Village.

The Temple
The Temple is facing east with an entrance at east and south side. The entrance on the eastern side is smaller. Hence, the southern side entrance acts as main entrance. The temple is situated on elevated portion and can be accessed by climbing the steps. The temple is enclosed by compound walls on all sides looking like a fort. Balipeedam, Dhwaja Sthambam and Nandi can be found facing the sanctum. Presiding Deity is called as Brahmapureeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam.
Dakshinamoorthy, Lingodbhava, Brahma,
Durga and Vinayaga are the Koshta idols located around he sanctum walls. Mother
is called as Periyanayaki. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. Nalvar
Shrine can be seen in the Artha Mandapam. There
are shrines for Vinayakar, Murugan with his consorts Valli & Devasena,
Bairavar, Suryan, Chandran, Nalvar, Gajalakshmi and Navagrahas in the temple
premises.

Kms from Konerirajapuram, 9 Kms from Thiruneelakkudi, 12 Kms from Aduthurai
Railway Station, 16 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur, 21 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway
Station, 22 Kms from Kumbakonam, 61 Kms from Thanjavur and 118 Kms from Trichy
Airport. Vaikal is situated on Kumbakonam to Karaikal route. After crossing
Thiruneelakkudi, S. Pudur and Pazhiyanchiya Nallur, take the diversion road and
proceed further for about 3 Kms to reach Vaikal.
