Chandramouleeswarar Temple is a
Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Melaiyur Village in
Thiruvidaimarudur Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is
called as Chandramouleeswarar and Mother is called as Anandhavalli. The Temple
is considered as Parihara Sthalam for Chandra Dosham. The Temple is situated on
the southern banks of Nattaru River.
Legends
It is believed that Lord Vishnu,
Hanuman and Garuda worshipped Lord Chandramouleeswarar of this Temple.
The Temple
This Temple is facing towards
east with two tiered Rajagopuram. Presiding Deity is called as
Chandramouleeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form
of Lingam. Idols of Vinayagar and Murugan can be found at the entrance of the
Artha Mandapam. Mother is called as Anandhavalli. She is housed in a separate
south facing shrine. Shrines of Vinayaga, Viswanathar with his consort
Visalakshi, Murugan, Sundareswarar with his consort Meenakshi and
Dakshinamoorthy can be found in the temple premises.

Kms from Thiruneelakkudi, 5 Kms from Aduthurai Railway Station, 8 Kms from Thiruvidaimaruthur,
14 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway Station, 15 Kms from Kumbakonam, 57 Kms from Thanjavur
and 111 Kms from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Kumbakonam to
Karaikal Route. Buses are available from Kumbakonam frequently.
