Bala Subramanya Temple,

Bala Subramanya Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, located in Kannanur Village near Thirumayam Town in Thirumayam Taluk in Pudukottai District of Tamil Nadu, India. The Temple is considered as the first stone temple of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu.
History
The Temple is believed to be built by Pandyas in 8th century CE. The Temple was extensively renovated by Aditya Chola I (870 – 907 CED. The Maha Mandapam was added during the reign of Aditya Chola.
The Temple
This Temple is facing towards east and is completely built in granite. The temple consists of sanctum, antrala, ardha mandapam, maha mandapam and mukha mandapam on the southern side. The ardha mandapam has entrance at the southern side. There is a shrine for Lord Murugan with his mount peacock in the ardha mandapam. This shrine is a later addition.
The sanctum enshrines an image of Bala Subramanya. He is facing towards east. He is in standing posture and is four armed. He holds Trisula in his upper right hand, lower right hand shows abhaya hastha, upper left hand holds a weapon and lower left hand rests on his hip. He wears rudraksha mala and danda in his leg. He does not hold Vel.
The vimana over the sanctum is of single tier and follows vesara style. There are niches around the sanctum walls. The southern niche houses Dakshinamoorthy but this might be later addition. Idols of Elephants can be seen on the four corners on the roof surrounding the vimana.
