Kailasanathar Temple,
Murugamangalam, Mayiladuthurai
Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Murugamangalam Village in Kuthalam Taluk in Mayiladuthurai District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Thirupura Sundari. The temple is situated on the banks of Pazhavar river.
The Temple
This temple is facing towards east with an entrance arch. The temple covers an area of about 1 acre. Balipeedam, Dhwaja Sthambam and Nandi can be found immediately after the entrance arch, facing towards the sanctum. The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, ardha mandapam and maha mandapam. The mukha mandapam is designed to look like the forehead of a bat (Vovval Nethi Mandapam). Presiding deity is called as Kailasanathar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam.
Dakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhava, Brahma and Vishnu Durga are the koshta idols located around the sanctum walls. Chandikeswarar shrine can be seen in his usual location. Mother is called as Thirupura Sundari. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine. Her shrine is situated to the right side of the nandi mandapam. There are shrines for Vinayaga, Murugan, Gaja Lakshmi, Bhairavar, Suryan, Saneeswarar and Navagrahas in the temple premises. There is a large temple pond in front of the temple.
Festivals
Margazhi Thiruvadhirai is the most famous festival
celebrated here. Monthly pradoshams are also observed here.

Trichy Airport. The temple is situated at about 1.5 Kms to the east of Alangudi
Panchayat Office on Kuthalam to Pandanallur route.
