Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple, Melaperumpallam, Mayiladuthurai

Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Melaperumpallam Village in Tharangampadi Taluk in Mayiladuthurai District of Tamil Nadu. The temple is situated on the southern bank of Cauvery river. The temple is located close to the Valampuranathar Temple.

The Temple

This temple is facing towards east with an entrance arch. The entrance arch has stucco images of Lakshmi Narayana flanked by Garuda and Anjaneya. Garuda and Balipeedam can be found immediately after the entrance arch, facing towards the sanctum. The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, ardha mandapam and mukha mandapam. The mukha mandapam is in the form of sheet metal shed. The sanctum enshrines the image of presiding deity, Lakshmi Narayana. His consort, Lakshmi is found seated on his lap. There is a separate shrine for Anjaneya in the temple premises.

The temple is located at about 2 Kms from Melaiyur Bus Stop, 6 Kms from Poompuhar, 6 Kms from Poompuhar Bus Stand, 8 Kms from Nangur, 12 Kms from Thirukadaiyur, 13 Kms from Sembanarkoil, 18 Kms from Vaitheeswarankovil, 19 Kms from Tharangambadi, 19 Kms from Sirkazhi, 21 Kms from Sirkazhi Railway Station, 21 Kms from Mayiladuthurai, 24 Kms from Mayiladuthurai Junction Railway Station and 146 Kms from Trichy Airport. Melaperumpallam is situated on Poompuhar to Mayiladuthurai route. Devotees need to get down at Melaiyur bus stop on this route and should take an auto to reach this temple.
