Sakthivanesvara Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thirusakthimutram Village near Patteeswaram in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sakthivanesvarar / Thazhuva Kuzhaintha Nathar / Sivakkozhuntheswarar / Sakthi Thazhuviya Udayar and Mother is called as Periyanayaki / Brihannayaki. This Temple is situated close to Patteeswaram Temple. This Temple is famously called as Chinna Kovil by locals.
The presiding deity is revered
in the 7th century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Devaram, written by
Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanmars and classified as Paadal
Petra Sthalam. This Temple is the 139th Devaram
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 22nd Sthalam
on south side of Cauvery River in Chozha Nadu. Appar has sung hymns
in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple. Saint Arunagirinathar has sang
songs in praise of Lord Murugan of this temple in his revered Thirupugazh.
Hence, the temple is considered as Thirupugazh
Sthalam.

Aippasi Skanda Shashti & Aippasi Annabishekam in October-November, Thiru
Karthikai & Karthigai Somavaram (Mondays) in the November-December,
Margazhi Thiruvadhirai in December-January and Masi Shivrathri in February-March
are the festivals celebrated in the temple. Pradosham and Sankatahara Chaturthi
are also observed regularly. Special pujas are performed in the temple on full
moon and new moon days.

It is believed that when one
prays to Sakthivanesvara with faith, one is blessed with the life partner of
one's choice. Pujas on Monday by married couple will bring joy in their life
and the separated husband and wife will rejoin in their family life. Devotees
also pray here for child boon and relief from previous birth sins. Devotees
perform abishek, offer vastras and contribute for the renovation of the temple.

Temple is located at about 500 meters from Patteeswaram Dhenupureeswarar Temple, 3 Kms from Darasuram Railway Station, 5 Kms from Aavoor,
6 Kms from Swamimalai, 7 Kms from Kumbakonam, 8 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway
Station, 8 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 34 Kms from Thanjavur and 92 Kms from
Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on the Kumbakonam to Aavoor route. Town
buses 8, 11, 25, 35, 61, 62 & 67 are available from Kumbakonam to reach
this temple. Also, mini buses are available from Kumbakonam and Darasuram.
