Sakthivanesvara Temple,
Thirusakthimutram – Religious Significance
The presiding deity is revered
in the 7th century Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Devaram, written by
Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanmars and classified as Paadal
Petra Sthalam. This
Temple is the 139th Devaram
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 22nd Sthalam
on south side of Cauvery River in Chozha Nadu. Appar has sung hymns
in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.
Saint Arunagirinathar has sang
songs in praise of Lord Murugan of this
temple in his revered Thirupugazh. Hence, the
temple is considered as Thirupugazh
Sthalam.

five temples around this temple in a single day on the Dakshinayana Punyakala
day is considered as beneficial to the devotees. Lot of people offer prayers
here for their ancestors on the New Moon Day (Amavasya) in the Tamil month of
Aadi (July-Aug).
