Thiruneermalai Dhivya Desam is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Thiruneermalai, a suburb of Chennai in Kanchipuram District of Tamilnadu. Thiruneermalai Dhivya Desam is one among the 108 Divya Desams of Perumal. There are two temples, one at the top of the hill and other in the foothills. In all, the temple occupies an area of 15 acres (6.1 ha). At Thiruneermalai, one finds Lord Vishnu in four forms - Sitting, Sleeping and Walking posture atop the hill and Standing posture in the temple at the foot of the hill.

While the presiding deity is Neervanna Perumal, all Utsavams (Celebrations) are for Lord Ranganatha. Thiruneermalai Dhivya Desam is revered in Nalayira Divya Prabhandham, a great Tamil canon, and the hymns were sung by Thirumangai Azhwar and Boothathazhar. This temple is considered as Mukthi Sthala. Thiruneermalai area is one of the 163 notified areas (megalithic sites) in the state of Tamil Nadu.

History

The temple is known to have been built in the 8th century by the Pallava kings and was later said to have been renovated by the Chola kings. The temple has lot of inscriptions from the Chola and later Pandyas, indicating generic contributions to the temple.

Devotees bathe in the tank for health and cure from illness and for a clear mind and worship Perumal.  Devotees also seek child boon by placing cradles in a tree and for removal of obstacles in marriage efforts. Devotees perform Tirumanjanam and special pujas to Perumal and offer vastras.

Rathnagiriswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Ayyarmalai near Kulithalai Town in Karur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Ratnagiriswarar / Arthanasaleswarar / Manikka Easar / Mudi Thalumbar / Malai Kozhundeesar / Raja Lingam / Madhyana Sokkar / Ratnagrisar / Vaatpokki Nathar and Mother is called as Karumbar Kuzhali / Aralakesi / Surunmbar Kuzhalai. The Temple is situated on 342 meters (1178 ft) high Ayyar Malai.

One has to climb 1017 steps to reach to the top of hill. The place is called as Iyer Malai, Rathnagiri, Sivayamalai, Ayvar Malai and Thiruvatpokki. It is considered very auspicious to visit three Shiva Sthalams (Kadambar Kovil in the morning, Thiruvatpokki (Ratnagiri) at noon and Thiruveengoimalai in the evening) on Mondays during the Tamil month of Karthigai. It is also believed that Lord Shiva here is worshipped by lightening once in 12 years.

The shrine has been praised in the hymns of Saints Tirunavukkarasar and Arunagirinathar. This Temple is the 118^th Devaram Padal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 1^st Sthalam on the south banks of river Cauvery in Chozha Naadu. Saint Arunagirinathar had praised Lord Murugan of this Temple in his Thirupugazh Hymns. This temple is administrated by The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Tamilnadu.

History

The Temple is believed to be more than 1300 years old. There are about 50 inscriptions dating from the 11^th to 16^th century AD in the Temple premises. Inscriptions indicates the temple received extensive patronage from the Cholas, Pandyas, Hoysalas and Vijayanagara kings.

During Pradosham days, transition of Guru (Jupiter) and Saturn and Poornima (full moon day), week end days, Tamil months 1^st day the crowd will be huge for Girivalam (around the mount).

Those who have no knowledge of their family deities (Kula Deivam) may adopt Rathnagreeswarar as their family deity. The Easwara grants boons of marriage, business development, children. Freedom from depression is attained here. Majority of the devotees visit the place for mental peace alone.

While going up on the steps, the devotee breaths the air from the various herbal plants on both sides and get relieved from Asthma, Blood pressure, chest pain, joint pains etc. The experience can be felt even in a single trip. Those doing so often are completely cured of these problems and this is the truth practically experienced by the devotees.

Devotees perform abhishekam and offers vastra to Lord and Mother. Devotees offer bell lamps (Manivilakku) to the God besides usual Archanas etc. Abisheks are offered in oil, milk, tender coconuts. They undertake some fasting also and do charities. Dhyana, penance and such silent prayers are undertaken by the devotees. Preparations offered to the deity are distributed to visitors.

Kadambavaneswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Kulithalai Town in Karur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kadambavaneswarar / Kadambavana Nathar and Mother is called as Bala Kujalambal / Mutrillamulayal. This temple is also called as Kadambanthurai. The original temple might have been built by the Cholas; however, it was renovated later. Kulithalai was called as Kulir Thandalai in the inscriptions.

It is considered as one of the five Kamba shrines installed by Lord Subramanya. The other four shrines are Kovil Kadambar, Aadi Kadambar, Ilankadambanoor and Perunkadambanoor. It is considered very auspicious to visit three Shiva Sthalams (Kadambar Kovil in the morning, Tiruvatpokki (Ratnagiri) at noon and Thiruveengoimalai in the evening) on Mondays during the Tamil month of Karthigai.

This Temple is the 119^th Devaram Paadal Petra Sthalam and 2^nd Sthalam on the south side of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu. Muthusamy Deekshitar's Kriti Neelakantham Bhaje sings the glory of this shrine. Saint Arunagirinathar had praised about Lord Murugan of this Temple in his Thirupugazh Hymns. The Temple is administrated by the Hindu Religion Charitable Endowment Department Tamilnadu.

13-day Masi Brahmotsavam in February-March, 10 Days Aadi Pooram, 10 Days, Purattasi Navaratri, 10 Days Aipasi Skanda Sashti, Karthigai Somavaram, Margazhi Thiruvadhirai, Thai Poosam, Masi Magam, Panguni Uthiram, are the festivals in the temple. The Thai Poosa Tiruvizha (festival) is celebrated on a grand scale. Kadambavaneswarar & Mother Mutrilla Mulayal give darshan at the banks of the Cauvery along with the idols from the surrounding temples - Pettaivaithalai, Rajendiram, Ayyarmalai, Thiruengoimalai, Karuppathur, Musiri and Vellur. It is a rare opportunity for the devotees to worship 8 Lord Shiva’s simultaneously.  

The first part of Aipasi Tula Snanam (bathing in Cauvery in October-November is followed devotionally here with Kalai Kadambar (morning) Sokkar (midday) and Eengoinathar (evening) worships. Morning worship is considered very beneficial with multiple profits including the one-off worshipping the Lord in Kasi in north.  The place also has the reputation of being called Dakshina Kasi – Kasi of South.
