Bharathiyar Nagar Beach is situated in between Thiruvotriyur and Ennore in Chennai City. This is a nice safe beach to spend time along with family. Waves are not that much high like Marina. Kids can also play in the sea. Only drawback some places are dirty in the shore and water is in black color some days. The Beach is located at about 200 meters from Ramakrishna Nagar Bus Stop, 3 Kms from Thiruvottriyur, 3 Kms from Thiruvottriyur Bus Depot, 4 Kms from Ennore Bus Depot, 4 Kms from Wimco Nagar Railway Station, 5 Kms from Ennore Railway Station, 14 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 16 Kms from Egmore Railway Station, 24 Kms from Koyambedu Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus and 30 Kms from Chennai Airport.

Karimanal Beach is an extension of the Pulicat Town beach. The beach is normally quite deserted and serene. Portuguese colonized the lake in 16th century followed by the Dutch. The Dutch drifted to the lagoon as their ships got stuck on the shores of Karimanal village on the opposite side of the mouth of the lake. During the Dutch occupation, Pulicat was known by the name Pallaicatta.

The Beach is located at about 2 Kms from Pazhaverkadu Bus Stop, 2.5 Kms from Pulicat Bus Stand, 10 Kms from Thirupalaivanam, 9 Kms from Karungali, 21 Kms from Ponneri, 21 Kms from Ponneri Railway Station, 75 Kms from Thiruvallur, 71 Kms from Chennai Airport and 56 Kms from Chennai. Town buses are frequently available from Ponneri and Red Hills.

Nagore Beach is located in the Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu in the southern part of India. The Nagore beach is mostly famous for its beauty and for being a religious center.  

It is a very picturesque place and is regularly maintained by the municipal authorities for enhancing the pleasure of the tourists. Locals mostly enjoy this place for visiting during evening and mostly it is enjoyed by the picnickers. It is a great place to spend quality time with family members and friends. Located 6 km from Nagapattinam, Nagore Beach; a popular beach of the region is just as popular as a place of religious significance. People of all faiths visit the dargah of Hazarat Meeran Sultan Syed Shahabdul Hameed, situated here, which is known as Hazarat Mian Dargah.

One can reach Nagore beach by air, rail and road. Nagore is connected to Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Trichy and Chennai by Rail Networks.  The airport at Trichy is the nearest airport.  Buses from Tamilnadu state Transport corporations connect Nagore to many cities in Tamilnadu.

One will not get many luxury and star hotels near this beach. But staying can be enjoyed near the beach. One will get economic stay in Nagore. The best time to visit Nagore beach is October to March.

Tourist Attractions

One can visit the spiritual center located near the beach.  The spiritual shrine is 500 years old Dargah of Meeran Sahib Abdul Qadir Shahul Hamid Badshah who is a Saint. He is the 23rd descendant of Prophet Muhammad. This is the place of Hindu and Muslim unity in India where people from all religions visits the shrine. The Dargah is a great place to establish faith in one’s religion. The 500 years old shrine is believed to attach to a tank called Peer Kulam. This tank contains water with curative properties.

The rush at the Dargah can be felt during the Kandhoori Festival.  Mostly the locals gather in the dargah during this festival. The tourists can also feel the spiritual spirit here during this festival.

Apart from having a great spiritual center on it, the beach offers the tourists many water games and horse riding as well. As the beach remains less crowded, one can sit there to enjoy nature surrounding the beach. One can find horses on rent to ride on the beach. Horse riding on the beach offers a thrilling experience to the tourists.

Nagore Beach Park is another location where the children and adult can enjoy alike.  This beach park is the right medium to stay engaged on the beach. The beach park provides much entertainment to the visitors.

One can get complete satisfaction with the visit to the Nagore beach. Not only entertainment and amazing views are present, there are several food stalls situated in the beach where one gets excellent food also. The place is a great tourist spot and is mostly occupied by the foreigners. The beach is also renowned for the mouthwatering food also.

Muttom sports a beautiful and tidy beach. Huge rocks standing at either sides of the beach give the beach a pristine look. Since the beach is usually less crowded, it makes an excellent spot for tourists to enjoy its beauty. There is also a children's park and a Christian retreat centre called the 'Rock Bible centre' just in view of the beach. Muttom has a lighthouse due to which its presence is recorded in the international shipping chart. This lighthouse was constructed by British during colonial Time. The lighthouse, though near the sea, is situated 110 ft. (34 m) above sea level. The skeleton was built when India was part of the British Empire until 1947.

There are hardly any such beaches in the coasts of Tamilnadu with such huge rocks. Waves rising high and splashing on the huge rocks are a sight to watch. Sitting there on a rock with feet on the water, the sight of the waves and the sound of the ocean is pleasing to the senses. The steep rocky shores of Muttom Beach are guarded with stainless steel fences. There are huts and benches at Muttom Beach, for visitors to sit and watch the sun set and the sea. The beach is one of the rare beaches with huge rocks on which the waves break constantly. 

The rich turquoise waves of the sea at this spot are quite breathtaking. However, the sea here is quite rough so swimming is not advisable. The picturesque dwellings on the rocks add to the scenic beauty of the surroundings. The terrain of this village and its surroundings is hilly and from a height one can see an idyllic view of the place. One can watch both the sunrise and sunset from here. A Portuguese architecture based Catholic Church known as All Saints Church, stands in the middle of the village. Many movies have been shot in this place in Tamil, Malayalam and in Hindi. Some famous ones are Kadalorak Kavithaikal, Alaigal Oiyvathillai, Kadal Pookal (Bharathi Raja), Pakal Nilavu Etc.

History

According to research work, King Raja Raja Chola conquered Muttom during 1003AD and re-named as Mummudi Chola Nallur. The above fact is mentioned in the stone carvings available in the temple of Thirunanthikarai. One of the tragic incidents in the history of Muttom was the Tsunami of 2004, which took the lives of nearly 45 people.

Activities

Muttom Beach is a lovely spot for a picnic. Just pack a meal and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Don’t miss the sunset here – the tangerine wash of the setting sun against the horizon will leave you awestruck. All Saints Church, a lovely Catholic church in the Portuguese style of architecture, is a must visit if you are here. Do check out the old lighthouse that was constructed by the British. It is over 100 years old.  If you’d like to enjoy the beauty of the sea and the magnificent sight of the waves thundering onto the rocks, you can sit in the small open huts that have been constructed on the rock tops. There are benches too where you can park yourself and sit back and enjoy the panoramic view.
