Suryeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Suryeswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. The temple is situated in Dhamalvar Street in Periya Kanchipuram.

Legends

As per legend, Lord Surya worshipped Lord Shiva at this temple. Hence, Lord Shiva came to be called as Suryeswarar.

The Temple

This Temple is facing towards east with an entrance arch. The entrance arch has stucco images of Lord Shiva and Parvathy flanked by Nandis. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found facing towards the sanctum. The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum and ardha mandapam. Sub shrines of Vinayaga and Murugan with consorts Valli & Devasena can be seen at the entrance of the ardha mandapam on either side. 

Presiding Deity is called as Suryeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. As in other temples in Kanchipuram, there is no separate shrine of Parvathi as it is believed that Kamakshi of Kanchipuram is the common Parvathi shrine for all Shiva temples. Sundara Vinayagar can be seen on the left side of the entrance arch.

Manikandeeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Manikandeeswarar / Visha Kandeeswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. This Temple is considered as one of the 108 Shiva temples mentioned in Kanchi Puranam. This Temple is also called as Manikandeesam. This Temple is considered as one of Navagraha Sthalams of Kanchipuram dedicated to Sani (Planet Saturn). This Temple is considered as Sani Parihara Sthalam.

History

The Temple is believed to be built by Pallavas in 8^th Century CE and completely reconstructed in granite during Chola period.

The Temple

This temple is facing towards west with an entrance arch from the southern side. The entrance arch has stucco image of Rishabaroodar flanked by Nandis on the corner. There is a shrine for Vinayaga at the right side of the entrance arch. The entrance arch is facing towards south side. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Antrala, Ardha Mandapam and Maha Mandapam.

Idols of Chandran and Suryan can be found in the Ardha Mandapam. Presiding Deity is called as Manikandeeswarar / Visha Kandeeswarar and is facing west. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Vinayagar, Dakshinamoorthy, Brahma, Vishnu and Durga are the Koshta Idols located around the sanctum walls. The Vimana over the sanctum follows Vesara style architecture and is of two tiers.

As in other temples in Kanchipuram, there is no separate shrine of Parvathi as it is believed that Kamakshi of Kanchipuram Kamakshi Temple is the common Parvathi shrine for all Shiva temples. There are shrines for Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Vinayaga, Sundarambal, Panamanneeswarar, Markandeswarar, Kanikandeeswarar, Nagas, Bhairavar and Padavettamman in the temple premises.

Temple Opening Time

The temple remains open from 07.00 am to 11.00 am and 05.00 pm to 08.00 pm.

Parutheeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Parutheeswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. This Temple is considered as one of the 108 Shiva temples mentioned in Kanchi Puranam. This Temple is also called as Parutheesam. This Temple is considered as one of Navagraha Sthalams of Kanchipuram dedicated to Surya (Sun). This Temple is considered as Surya Parihara Sthalam.

Legends

As per legend, Lord Surya installed Shiva Linga and worshipped Lord Shiva. As Lord Surya is also called as Parithi / Gnayiru, Lord Shiva came to be called as Parutheeswarar.

The Temple

This Temple is situated on the banks of Paruthikulam. This temple is facing towards east. Nandi and Balipeedam, housed in a Mandapam, can be found facing the sanctum.  Presiding Deity is called as Parutheeswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Dvarapalas can be seen guarding the Sanctum. There is a separate east facing shrine for Lord Surya to the right side of the sanctum. As in other temples in Kanchipuram, there is no separate shrine of Parvathi as it is believed that Kamakshi of Kanchipuram Kamakshi Temple is the common Parvathi shrine for all Shiva temples.

Sukreswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sukreswarar / Sukleswarar and Mother is called as Kamakshi. The Temple is also called as Sukleswarar Temple. The temple is considered as Shukra Parihara Sthalam. The temple is situated in Krishna Rice Mill Complex.

Legends

It is believed that Shukra worshipped Lord Shiva of this temple.

History

The Lingam was found when people were excavating the land for building the rice mill.

Presiding Deity is called as Sukreswarar / Sukleswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Lingam is having sixteen stripes (Shodasa Linga). As in other temples in Kanchipuram, there is no separate shrine of Parvathi as it is believed that Kamakshi of Kanchipuram Kamakshi Temple is the common Parvathi shrine for all Shiva temples. Vinayaga and Murugan can be found at the entrance of the temple.
