Navagraha Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Navagrahas located in Moratandi Village near Union Territory of Pondicherry in Villupuram District of Tamilnadu. The Temple covers an area of 2 acres. The main deity Saniswaran Bhagwan is about 27 feet tall and each Navagraha idol is 15 feet tall. All Navagrahas are huge idols with their vahanas. Among them, Surya the sun god is present at the centre who resembles his importance compared with Navagrahas.

There is also a huge Vinayagar Statue in this Temple. He is 34 feet tall and made of gold paintings. The idol is present at the entrance and gives darshan to the devotees as soon as you enter the temple. The steps that lead you to the immense Vinayaga are also high. There was also a Vasthu Bhagwan, Lord Shiva as Kalyana Sundareswarar in this Temple.

As each Navagrahas have each distinct tree, there also certain trees that denote the zodiac signs. People with various zodiac signs worship the tree that belongs to their star. Worshipping the god with oil lamps and trees related to star is all a kind of worship in Hinduism. Poojas are also done with various kinds of flowers according to the star of an individual. The temple is fully maintained with calm atmosphere as it is slightly away from the busy city.

The Temple is situated on NH 32 (Chennai to Nagapattinam Highway) between Tindivanam and Pondicherry. The Temple is located very close to Pondicherry. The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Moratandi Prathiyangara Devi Temple, 4 Kms from Thiruchitrambalam Junction Koot Road, 1.5 Kms from Pondicherry – Tindivanam Toll Gate, 5 Kms from Panchavati Anjaneyar Temple, 5 Kms from Irumbai Maha Kaleswarar Temple, 7 Kms from Sedarapet, 10 Kms from Vanur, 10 Kms from Pondicherry Main Bus Stand, 11 Kms from Puducherry Railway Station, 6 Kms from Pondicherry Airport, 35 Kms from Tindivanam, 155 Kms from Chennai and 141 Kms from Chennai Airport. Buses from Pondicherry to Tindivanam and vice versa will stop at Toll gate.

Sathyanatha Swamy Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Thirukalimedu, a well known locality in Kanchipuram City in Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is situated on the banks of Indra Theertham. Presiding Deity is called as Sathyanatha Swamy / Sathyanatheswarar / Satyaviratheswarar / Tirukaleeswarar / Karaivananathar and Mother is called as Brahmarambigai.

This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Shiva Sthalams) glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems. Thirugnana Sambandar, a 7^th century Tamil Saivite poet, venerated Sathyanatheswarar in one verse in Thevaram. This Temple is considered as the 5^th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam in Thondai Nadu. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

History

This Temple might have existed from 5^th Century CE and probably built by Pallavas. Thirugnana Sambandar, a 7^th century Tamil Saivite poet, venerated Sathyanatheswarar in one verse in Thevaram. It is believed that this temple is considered much older than Ekambaranathar Temple and Kailasanathar Temple. The place was called as Thiru Neri Karaikadu, locality in Kachi Pedu as per inscription of Chola Emperor Rajendra Chola I. Lord Shiva was called as Thirukaraikadudaya Mahadevar and place was called as Jayamkonda Chozha Mandalathu Eyir Kottathu Kanchipuram as per the inscriptions in the temple.

There are about six inscriptions recorded in this temple. These inscriptions belonged to Rajaraja Chola I, Rajendra Chola I, Rajathiraja Chola, Rajendra Chola II and Adhi Rajendra Chola. These inscriptions record the Meikeerthi of the Kings, gifts, grants and renovation activities carried out in the temple. Based on the historical significance of the temple, it was in the proposal of Archaeological Survey of India, Chennai Circle, as one of the seven temples to be included as an archaeological monument.

Prayers

Lord Shiva grants all boons to the devotees. On Wednesdays, devotees bathe in the Theertha, offer green vastras to planet Budha (Mercury), offer green pulse as nivedhana and worship him as Gnana Karaka (Wisdom Giver) for achieving excellence in education, proficiency in language skills, eloquence and for removal of any ill effect. Devotees offer vastras to Lord with abishek, archanas and nivedhanas.

Saneeswara Bhagavan Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Planet Saturn, located in Kuchanur Village near Chinnamanur Town in Uthamapalayam Taluk in Theni District of Tamil Nadu. This is the only temple in India dedicated exclusively to Saneeswara Bhagavan. The Temple is situated on the banks of main channel of perennial Surabhi River.

The Temple

This is the only temple in India dedicated exclusively to Saneeswara Bhagavan. The temple at Tirunallar in Puducherry is having only a separate Shrine for Saneeswarar. The Temple is situated on the banks of main channel of perennial Surabhi River. Presiding Deity is Saneeswara Bhagavan. He is a Swayambhu (Self-Manifested). He is in the shape of Linga housed in the sanctum, black in color. The Utsava Moorthy (processional idol) is situated adjacent to the presiding deity.

Since Sani is the Sun of Suryanarayana, Thiruman (Vaishnava symbol) is seen on the Swayambhu Murthy.  As Sani was also a Shiva devotee and was conferred the Easwaran title, Vibhuti Markings are seen on the crown. Hence both the Shaivites and Vaishnavites visit this temple for worship. There are shrines of Murugan and Vinayaga to the north of sanctum.

Landasanyasi shrine is situated to the left side of the sanctum. Shrines of Sonai Karuppanaswami, Kannimar and Nagas can be found near this Temple on the banks of the Surabhi River. There is also a separate temple for Guru (Vadaguru) on the northern side of the village. There is a hanuman temple also in this Village, housing a five headed Ganesha.

Temple Opening Time

The Temple remains open from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM except Saturdays. On Saturdays, the Temple remains open from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Festivals

Every year festivals are held during the Tamil month of Aadi Saturdays (July-August) during which devotees from far and near throng the shrine. Of the five Saturdays, the third Saturday has special significance since it is the day of festivity. Also, the Shani (Saturn) transit day is observed very devotionally occurring in every two and half years. Devotees, who visit the Shani Bhagavan temple, take a dip in the Surabhi River and then proceed to worship to him.

Only after feeding the crows that are around (crow is considered to be the vahana (celestial carrier) of Shani Bhagavan) during Uchikala Poojas, Prasadams are given to devotees. At times when crows do not partake of the offering, the entire gathering including priests plead before Shani Bhagavan to forgive their mistakes. Ellu Pongal (a mix of cooked rice and gingerly powder) is a regular Prasadam offered at the temple. It is said that there has never been an occasion when crows have not had the offering.

The Temple is located at about 100 meters from Kuchanur Bus Stop, 7 Kms from Chinnamanur, 7 Kms from Chinnamanur New Bus stand, 11 Kms from Uthamapalayam, 17 Kms from Theni, 22 Kms from Theni Railway Station, 97 Kms from Madurai and 114 Kms from Madurai Airport. There are regular buses at every 30 minutes to this temple from Theni bus stand. There are Buses for every 5 minutes from Theni to Chinnamanur. From Chinnamanur you may go to Kuchanur by bus or auto.
