Sara Parameswarar Temple,
Thirucherai – Prayers
There is a unique shrine for Rina Vimochana Lingeswarar
/ Kadan Nivartheeswarar (Lord Shiva who relieves from debt) in the western
prakaram of the
temple premises. It is strongly believed that Rina Vimochana Lingeswarar fulfils the desires of the
devotees and improves their financial status. According to the scriptures
every human being is born with three types of debts viz Deva, Rishi and Pithru
Rina, the debts to God, Rishis and our ancestors respectively.
Monday is considered very
auspicious for Lord Shiva. Worshipping Kadan Nivartheeswarar
for eleven consecutive Mondays here in Thirucherai makes the
devotees to get rid of all their financial struggles. An Abhishekam is
performed to Lord Shiva on 11th Monday to end this ritual. Devotees
firmly believe that this prayer would offer solution for all their problems and
endow them with a life free of debt and material progress.
Devotees offer garlands made of
Vada (a pudding fried in oil) to Bhairava on Ashtami day (8th day
from new moon or full moon day), perform archana with 1000 names (Sahasranama)
for relief from the adverse aspects of the planets and for success in
litigations. Devotees worship Lord Shiva to remove obstacles from their
marriage proposals and child boon. Devotees offer abishek and Vastras to the
Lord on realizing their prayers. The affluent ones do poor feeding (Annadhanam)
and contribute for the maintenance and renovation of the
temple.
