Sundareswarar Temple, Paravalur, Cuddalore

Sundareswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Paravalur Village in Virudhachalam Taluk in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar and Mother is called as Meenakshi. The Temple is situated on the banks of Manimutharu River.




The Temple

This is a small east facing ancient Temple, but the entrance is from west. The Temple has only one prakaram enclosing all the shrines and sanctum. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found facing the sanctum. There is no Dhwaja Sthambam in this Temple. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum and Ardha Mandapam.



Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Chandikeswarar Shrine can be found in his usual location. Mother is called as Meenakshi. She is housed in a separate east facing shrine. There are shrines for Murugan with his consorts Valli & Devasena, Vinayaga and Nagas in the Temple premises.

The Temple is located at about 1 Km from Paravalur Bus Stop, 7 Kms from Virudhachalam, 7.5 Kms from Virudhachalam Bus Stand, 10 Kms from Virudhachalam Railway Station, 71 Kms from Cuddalore, 125 Kms from Trichy Airport, 225 Kms from Chennai Airport and 243 Kms from Chennai. The Temple is situated on Virudhachalam to Veppur Route.
