Gnana Koothar Madam,
Seppakkam, Cuddalore
Gnana Koothar Madam is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Gnana Koothar located at Seppakkam Village near Veppur in Virudhachalam Taluk in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. The Madam is situated on the southern banks of Gomukhi River. Seppakkam was called as Sivan Pakkam in ancient times.
History
Thuraiyur Aadheenam Gnana Kootha Sivaprakasa Thesigar
attained Mukthi at this village during 16th Century AD. Later,
Aadheenams installed a Linga at his Samadhi and built a Temple in memory of
him.
The Temple
The Temple is east facing. The sanctum is situated at
the exact place of his Samadhi. A Shiva Linga had been installed over it. Nandi
can be found facing the sanctum. There is an idol of Nataraja along with his
consort Shivagami facing south in the Temple premises. There is a Vinayagar
shrine to the south west of the sanctum. Chandikeswarar can be found in his
usual location. There is another Vinayagar Shrine in the outer courtyard.

Railway Station, 83 Kms from Cuddalore and 112 Kms from Trichy Airport. The
Temple is situated on Veppur to Ulundurpet Route (NH 38).
