Dhenupureeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Patteeswaram in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Dhenupureeswarar / Patteeswarar and Mother is called as Palvalai Nayagi / Gnanambigai. This temple is very famous for its Durga Shrine and is popularly known as Durgai Amman Temple.
This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram hymns. This Temple is the 140th Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 23rd Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Prayers
Devotees pray to Mother Durga for relief from the
adverse aspects of serpent planets Rahu and Ketu during the Rahu Kalam times,
on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays in particular and on new moon, full moon,
Ashtami and Navami days and for child and wedding boons and from the adverse
aspect of Mars-Sevvai planet. Lemon garlands and saris are offered to
Durga. Red flower garlands are offered to alleviate the evil influence of Mars.
Devotees pray to Bhairava for relief from enemy threats, cure from ailments,
poison and dog bites. Bhairava Ashtami abishek is performed on Lord Bhairava on
the Ashtami day in new moon fortnight.
Devotees pray to Lord Patteeswarar for relief from
worries and for mental peace, job opportunities, and progress in trade and
promotions in jobs. Abhishek is offered to Lord Patteeswarar with milk, green
coconut, rose water, sandal, sacred ash, cosmetic powders, rice flour, honey
and oil. On Karthikai Monday days in November, abishek is performed to Lord
with 1008 conch Theertha. They also offer vastras to Lord and Mother.
Feeding-Annadhana, distribution of nivedhanas to devotees and contribution to
temple renovation are other commitments undertaken by the devotees.

Temple is located at about 500 meters from Thirusakthimutram Sakthivanesvara Temple, 3 Kms from Darasuram Railway Station, 5 Kms from Aavoor,
6 Kms from Swamimalai, 7 Kms from Kumbakonam, 8 Kms from Kumbakonam Railway
Station, 8 Kms from Kumbakonam Bus Stand, 34 Kms from Thanjavur and 92 Kms from
Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on the Kumbakonam to Aavoor route. Town
buses 8, 11, 25, 35, 61, 62 & 67 are available from Kumbakonam to reach
this temple. Also, mini buses are available from Kumbakonam and Darasuram.
