Devi Karumariyamman Temple, Thiruvadisoolam, Chengalpattu

Devi Karumariyamman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Sakthi located in Thiruvadisoolam Village near Chengalpattu Town in Chengalpattu Taluk in Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu. The Temple is still under construction. The Temple enshrines 51 feet tall image of Karumariyamman. The Temple is situated close to Thiruvadisoolam Gnanapureeswarar Temple.


History

The Temple was constructed by Sri Madurai Muthu Swamigal MA., BL. He belonged top the lineage of Sri Thambu Swamigal. Sri Thambu Swamigal is the person who constructed the Thiruverkadu Sri Karumari Amman Temple. It is said that Devi Karumari Amman appeared in his dream and ordered him to build a temple for her in this place.


The Temple

This Temple is facing towards east and under construction. Her lion mount and Balipeedam can be found facing towards the sanctum. There is 32 feet tall stone soolam in front of the goddess. The sanctum and other architectural segments of the temple are under construction. The image of Devi Karumariyamman is about 51 feet high. She is in her Viswaroopa form.


The image has been carved out of a monolithic stone weighing 800 tonnes. The monolithic granite stone was brought from Sirudhamur Village. It took sthapathis over six years to sculpt the deity, which was installed on September 11, 2008. She is in sitting posture with ten hands holding various weapons, showing varada and abhaya hastham. The Peedam has Venkatesa Perumal Shrine behind the Karumariyamman Temple.


It has a 11 feet tall idol of Venkatesa Perumal / Srinivasa Perumal along with his consort Alarmelmangai Thayar.  The shrine is surrounded by miniature shrines of 108 Divyadesams. The Peedam also been planned to construct a Mahalingam of 163 feet in height and 148 feet in length, consisting of 10,000 lingams, each containing 1,000 lingams thus making up one crore lingams.


Temple Opening Time

The temple remains open from 07.30 am to 11.30 am and 05.00 pm to 07.30 pm.

Connectivity

The Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Chengalpattu, 7 Kms from Chengalpattu New Bus Stand, 8 Kms from Chengalpattu Old Bus Stand, 8 Kms from Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station, 17 Kms from Thirukazhukundram, 20 Kms from Thiruporur, 42 Kms from Chennai Airport and 61 Kms from Chennai. The Temple is situated on Chengalpattu to Thiruporur route. All the private and government buses from Chengalpattu to Thiruporur pass through this village.

Location
