Chitra Radha Vallabha Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Kuruvithurai Village near Cholavandhan in Vadipatti Taluk in Madurai District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Chitra Radha Vallaba Perumal and Mother is called as Shenbagavalli Thaayar. Though the primary deity of the temple is actually Lord Vishnu, the temple is famous as Lord Guru’s shrine. Since it is Guru Parihara Sthalam, Guru Peyarchi day is the biggest day of the year at this temple with lakhs of devotees visiting the temple on that day.

While this is not a Divyadesam, Nammazhwar in his Thiruvaimozhi verse sings in praise of the Lord as ‘Chithirath Ther Valavaa, Thiru Chakarathhaai, Arulaai….’ referring to both the ‘chariot and the discus’ used to demolish the asuras leaving one to wonder if Nammazhwar had actually directed his praise at Chitra Ratha Vallabha Perumal here at Kuruvi Thurai.

Take Bus No. 68 from Periyar Bus Stand in Madurai to reach Kuruvi Thurai in an hour. Several buses are available between Madurai and Sholavandan. Chennai to Tirunelveli Nellai Express stops at Sholavandan (4.45 a.m.) From Sholavandan Railway station, one can reach Kuruvi Thurai within 30 minutes.
