Sara Parameswarar Temple, Thirucherai, Thanjavur
Sara Parameswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thirucherai in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Saraparameswarar / Senneriyappar and Mother is called as Gnanambigai / Gnanavalli. This temple is situated at the southern banks of the river Mudikondan, a tributary of the river Cauvery.
This temple is famous for its Rina Vimochana Lingeswarar / Kadan Nivartheeswarar Shrine. It is a general belief that worshipping Rina Vimochana Lingeswarar in this temple helps improve the financial status and be debt-free. Hence, this temple is considered as Kadan Nivarthi Sthalam. This temple is also called as Udayar Koil by the locals.
The Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Shiva Sthalams) glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Thirugnana Sambandar and Appar. This Temple is considered as the 212th Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 95th Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu.

History
This Temple was believed to be built by Chola King Kulothunga Chola. There are about two inscriptions in this temple dating back to Kulothunga Chola. The last consecration ceremony took place on 22.01.2018. This temple is under the administrative control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Government of Tamil Nadu (HR&CE).

Temple Opening Time
The Temple remains open from 7.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. On Mondays, the temple remains open from 3:30 a.m. and closes at 11.00 p.m without any break.
Festivals
Avani Vinayakar Chaturthi (Aug-Sep), Purattasi Navaratri (Sep-Oct), Aippasi Skanda Shashti (Oct–Nov), Aippasi Annabishekam (Oct–Nov), Thiru Karthikai (Nov-Dec), Margazhi Thiruvadhirai (Dec-Jan) and Masi Shivrathri (Feb-Mar) are the festivals celebrated in this temple. Monthly Pradoshams are also observed regularly.
