Sundareswarar
Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Kadagambadi in
Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. This is an ancient medium sized temple. Presiding
Deity is called as Sundareswarar and is facing east. Mother is called as
Balasundari and is facing south. Shrines for Ganesha, Dakshinamurthy,
Subramanya, Maha Durgai, Vishnu Durgai, Swarna Akasha Bhairava, Navagraha,
Surya and Saneeswara can be found in the prakaram. This Temple dates back to
the time of King Saraboji. The area is also called Saraboji Rajapuram.
The Main
Deity, Goddess and Durga are made of a very smooth glittering stone. Vishnu
Durga is presumed to be made of Emerald. Theertham associated with this Temple
is Arasalaru River. Sacred Tree (Sthala Vriksham) is Pavizhamalli (Nyctanthes
arbor-tristis). Kadagambadi is located at about 3 Kms from Thiruveezhimizhalai,
30 Kms from Kumbakonam, 8 Kms from Poonthottam, 27 Kms from Thiruvarur and 123
Kms from Trichy. Nearest Railway Station is located at Poonthottam and Nearest
Airport is located at Trichy.
