Mangalapureeswarar Temple
is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Thiruchopuram
(Thiyagavalli) Village in Cuddalore District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is
called as Mangalapureeswarar / Chopuranathar. Mother is called as Sathyakshi / Saththiyaya
Dakshi / Velnedunganni / Thiyagavalli / Chopura Nayaki. This temple was long
buried under sand and was excavated just over a hundred years ago. There are
some historical inscriptions in this temple. The Lord of the temple is praised
by Thirugnana Sambandar in Thevaram hymns. This is the 38th Devaram
Padal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 6th Sthalam in Nadu Naadu.

The temple is very close to the shores of the Bay of
Bengal and is believed to have been built by Thiyagavalli, the wife of the
Chola King Kulothungan-III (also known as Thirubhuvana Chakravarthy).

Opening Time
This temple remains open from 7.00 AM to 11.00 AM in the
morning and 5.30 PM to 7.30 PM in the evenings.
Festivals
Worship services are carried out 4 times a day. Maha Shivarathri
in the Tamil month of Maasi (Feb-Mar), Tirukarthikai in the Tamil month of
Karthikai (Nov-Dec), Annabishekam in the Tamil month of Aippasi (Oct-Nov) and
Panguni Uthiram in the Tamil month of Panguni (Mar-Apr) are the important
festivals celebrated in this temple.
