Golden Temple, Sripuram, Vellore
Sripuram Golden Temple is a
Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Sri Lakshmi Narayani located at Sripuram in Vellore District of
Tamilnadu. This
golden temple complex is a spiritual park is situated at the foot of a small
range of green hills at Thirumalaikodi (or simply Malaikodi)
village near Vellore Town. The Maha Kumbabhishekam or consecration of the temple and its chief
deity, Sri
Lakshmi Narayani or
Maha Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, was held on 24 August 2007. This temple is
gilded with 1500 kg of pure gold, double the 750-kg gilding of the dome of
the Golden
Temple at
Amritsar.
This temple has been attracting a lot of tourists
every year. Around 25,000 people visit the temple every day. It is considered
as the world’s largest golden temple dedicated to goddess Mahalakshmi (the
goddess of wealth). A visit to this temple gives its visitors a spiritual
awakening of the cultural heritage of India and Hinduism. Sripuram Golden
Temple was installed and maintained by Sri Narayani Peedam.
Legends
Efforts were taken to build the temple by a woman
devotee Sakthi Amma. Crossing the road from this golden temple, there is a
thatched roof hut housing Swayambu Narayani and another Narayani in a temple
nearby. This temple is revered as Narayani Peetam. Founder of the
temple Sakthi Amma is in this temple. Before leaving the place, devotes
seek her blessings. All the devotees are fed by the temple both in midday
and night.

Opening Time
Darshan Timing is 8 am to 8 pm on all the 365 days. For
those who want to have darshan and have enough time to stand in the
queue, the entry is free. There are no charges for the general public
for entry and darshan. However, those who are in hurry and limited time to go
through the normal darshan, there are some special arrangements made for a
little fee. One can avail the available options across the counter. Entry is
free, but for Special Entry fee is Rs.250/-.
Festivals
Vaikunda Ekadasi is grandly celebrated in the temple
in December-January.
Prayers
Standing in the Mahamandapam and worshipping Mother
would bring the devotee all the prosperities, is the faith of the
people. Life would ever be happier. Devotees perform abishek to Mother and
offer vastras.
