Thirumarperu Manikandeswarar Temple
is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in Tirumalpur in Ocheri
-Tirumalpur road, Tamilnadu, India. The temple is revered by the Tevaram hymns of 7th century Saiva nayanars - Tamil saint poets and is also classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam (temple revered by the nayanars). This is the 11th Devaram
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam in Thondai Nadu. Thiruganasambhandar and Thirunavukarasar
have sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.
This Sthalam is originally called as "Thiru
maarperu" (Thirumaalperu) and as the years passed, it is now called as
"Thirumaalpoor". This Sthalam is also called as
"Harichakkrapuram" in Sanskrit. The place is about 12 kms from
Kancheepuram. One can reach the place by train also. Kancheepuram to Arakkonam
rail route and stop at Thirumaalpoor station. From there the temple is 5 kms. Here
the pooja is done without touching the deity because they
say Siva here is Teenda thirumeny nadhar with kavacham always.

temple is built by Parantaka Chola based on their as a symbol of it they
installed Choleesvarar & this temple is more than 1500 years old and Sundara
chola Stone Scripture were found here, also Tirugnanasambandar and Thirunavukarasar
