Aadhi Kesava Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Kattu Parur near Mangalampettai in Virudhachalam Taluk in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Aadhi Kesava Perumal and Mother is called as Vedavalli Nachiyar. The Temple is believed to be around 400 years old.

The Temple

This Temple is facing towards east with five tiered Rajagopuram. The Temple has entrances on all four sides. The northern entrance will be open only during Vaikunda Ekadashi. Dhwaja Sthambam, Balipeedam and Garudazhwar can be found facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sabha Mandapam, Maha Mandapam, Artha Mandapam and Sanctum. The Sabha Mandapam is 36 pillared. Sculptures of Dasavathara can be found in these pillars.


Hanuman, Garuda, Swan, Horse, Adisesha and Elephant Vahanas (Vehicles) can be seen on the right side of Sabha Mandapam. Jaya and Vijaya can be found guarding the entrance of Maha Mandapam. A Vinayaga idol can be seen at the entrance. Utsava idols are Kalinga Nardana Gopalan, Venugopala Swamy with his consorts Radha & Rukmini, Chakrathazhwar, Hanuman and Thirumangai Azhwar can be seen in the Maha Mandapam.


Presiding Deity is called as Aadhi Kesava Perumal. He is housed in the sanctum in standing posture. He is gracing the devotees along with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Lord is a Swayambhu Moorthy (self-manifested). Mother is called as Vedavalli Nachiyar. She is housed in a separate east facing shrine. She is gracing the devotees in standing posture. There are also shrines for Anjaneyar and Idumban in the temples premises.


Madapalli (Temple Kitchen) and Goshala can be seen in the prakaram. There is a Temple tank situated to the northern side of the temple. A ruined Vasantha Mandapam can be seen on the western side of the temple tank. Vishnu Pada can be found on the southern side of the temple tank. The priests belong to Yadava and Vanniya Kula Kshatriya Community. The temple chariot is situated outside the temple premises.


Temple Opening Time

The Temple remains open from 07.30 AM to 01.00 PM and 05.00 PM to 07.30 PM.

Festivals

10 days Vaikasi Brahmotsavam, Vaikunda Ekadashi, Monthly Sundays and Purattasi Sundays are celebrated with much fanfare.

Prayers

Devotees pray here for relief from diseases, to remove marriage obstacles and Child boon.

Connectivity

The Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Mangalampettai, 10 Kms from Puvanur Railway Station, 10 Kms from Ulundurpet, 15 Kms from Ulundurpet Railway Station, 20 Kms from Virudhachalam, 78 Kms from Cuddalore and 127 Kms from Trichy Airport. One can reach Mangalampettai easily by bus either from Ulundurpet and Virudhachalam. Mini Buses runs from Mangalampettai to Kattu Parur every hour from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm Autos and Share Autos also ply in this route.
