Bannari Amman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Mariamman, located in Bannari Village near Sathyamangalam Town in Sathyamangalam Taluk in Erode District, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the most famous Amman temples in Tamil Nadu. The Temple is situated on the foot hills of western ghats and on the bus route Sathyamangalam to Mysore.

The Temple
The Temple is facing towards south with an entrance arch on the eastern side. The temple is situated on the foot hills of western ghats amidst verdant forests. The deity is a swayambumurthi (self-manifested). Presiding Deity is called as Bannari Mariamman / Bannari Amman. She is facing towards South. She is holding Kapalam, Damaru, Knife and Pasam in her hands.
The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Artha Mandapam, Shobana Mandapam and Maha Mandapam. Shobana Mandapam is a 24 pillared Mandapam, situated in front of the entrance of the temple. Bommaraya Swamy Shrine can be seen in the Artha Mandapam. He is facing towards west. Santhana Ganapathy Shrine can be seen in Maha Mandapam. He is facing towards east.
There is a shrine for Madheswara Moorthy in southern prakaram. He is placed on a slab. Shrines of Sarugu Mariyamman and Muniappa Swamy can be seen near Theppa Kinaru (Theertha Well). Sarugu Mariyamman is facing towards west. Sthala Vriksham is Vengai Tree.

Festivals
Kundam Festival (walking on
the fire pit) is celebrated in the Tamil Month
of Panguni (March - April). This festival is celebrated for 20 days. This is
the most famous annual festival, lakhs of devotees from different directions
throng the temple in this month which is marked by festivity and gaiety. Erode
district will get a local holiday during this famous Kundam festival. The
temple is crowded on special days as new moon days, Tuesdays and Fridays.
Deepavali in October-November, Pongal falling almost on January 14, Tamil and
English New Year days are also celebrated in the temple. Women devotees
participate in Thiruvilakku pooja on last Friday of every Tamil month.
Prayers
Devotees pray here to get relief from chicken pox, eye problems, joint pains and other diseases. Also, devotees pray here for child boon, prosperous agricultural yield and removing marriage obstacles. The anthill earth is given to devotees as Vibuthi or prasadam. People offer salt and pepper to Bannari Mariamman after their wishes are fulfilled.
