Muktheeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Kaveripakkam Town in Vellore District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Muktheeswarar and Mother is called as Alangaravalli.



History

The Temple
This is an east facing temple with 3 tier Rajagopuram facing south. Presiding Deity is called as Muktheeswarar. Lord is a Swayambu Moorthy.  facing east. Mother is called as Alangaravalli and is facing south. There is shrine for Saneeshwara Bhagavan present in this temple and devotees visit this shrine with ghee lamps for nine weeks to get blessings and to avoid the bad impact of Sani Dhosham.



There are shrines for Sapthamadhas, Panchalingam, Vinayaga, Dakshina Murthy, Mahavishnu, Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Brahma, Durga, Chandikeswara, Kala Bairavar, Bairamurthy, Balabairavar and Nalwar in the Temple premises. Lord Vishnu is in praying position before Kasi Viswanathar in this Temple. Sacred Tree is Vanni.


Inscriptions
The earliest inscription found in the village is an 8th century record of Pallava Nandivarman II. It is damaged and is not in original position and is now found at the entrance of the gopuram of the temple and mentions some gifts. This Temple was called as Abhimuktheeswaram in the 13th century, in the time of Kulottunga Chola III, in whose reign some endowments were created for Puja, sacred food offerings and other services which were to be added directly to existing endowments under the orders of one Brahmin commander Viramindan Attimallan alias Vikrama Chola Brahma-marayan.
He seems to have come from the line of Sengeni chiefs Ammaiappan. In addition, some provisions were also made for offerings to Nataraja and for burning perpetual lamps. Kavidippakkam is now called Kaveripakkam, and an independent village situated in the sub division Paduvar-kottam of Jayamkonda Cholamandalam. The transaction is recorded in the 32nd regnal year and the donor Chalukki Naranan has signed the document.
