Sudalaimadan
Temple is dedicated to local village deity located at Karisulndamangalam
Village near Cheranmahadevi in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This temple
is situated on the banks of Thamirabarani River at the western edge of the
village. Kodai Vizha is celebrated at this temple every year, in the Tamil
month Chithirai on the Tuesday that is close to Chithirai Pournami – (i.e.)
Full Moon day. Nearly Ten thousand people gather and witness the festival. Aadi
Mulai kottu, Karthikai padukai, Masi Shivarathri and Varushabishegam are other
important festivals.
During
its last Kumbabishekam, several renovation works were carried out, and ample
facilities are available now. An approach road to the temple has been laid so
that the devotees can go up to the temple by auto or car. During Kodai Vizha,
traditional arts like Villu Pattu are performed. Other important features
include a circumambulatory walk around the village, by Vallarkandan, as well as
Kaniyan Kaivettu.
Karisulndamangalam
is located at about 3 Kms from Pattamadai, 5 Kms from Cheranmahadevi, 12 Kms
from Veeravanallur, 30 Kms from Thirunelveli, 191 Kms from Madurai, 75 Kms from
Thoothukudi and 150 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. From Tirunelveli, buses every
15minutes to Pathamadai (Ambai / Papanasam) bound buses. Take an auto from
Pathamadai to reach Karisulntha Mangalam( 2kms). Auto will cost Rs. 80 (to and
fro). Bus 36D runs between Tirunelveli and Karisulntha Mangalam. Nearest Railway
Station is located at Cheranmahadevi and Veeravanallur. Nearest Airport is
located at Madurai, Thoothukudi and Thiruvananthapuram.
