Navaneethakrishnan Temple, Karisulndamangalam,
Thirunelveli
Navaneethakrishnan
Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu located at Karisulndamangalam Village
near Cheranmahadevi in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This temple is
situated on the western end of Karisulndamangalam, at the beginning of the
erstwhile Brahmin Street (present day Rajaji Street). No evidence is available
regarding performance of any Kumbabishekam for this temple. While the agraharam
was prosperous – (i.e.) up to 1975 – several festivals have been celebrated.
Sri
Krishna Jayanthi, Varushabishegam on Thaipoosam day, Tirukarthikai, Oonjal
urchavam on Fridays in the Tamil month of Thai were some of the festivals
celebrated regularly. Chanting of Vishnu Sahasranama Japam took place through
every evening of the Tamil month of Margazhi. On the 27th day of Margazhi,
Koodaravalli festival would be celebrated. But these days only Sri Krishna Jayanthi
and Thaipoosam are being celebrated. The family of Sri Venkataramani , with
native roots in this village, has been gracious enough to renew the floor
inside the temple and repair the leakage on the roof; the walls have also been
white washed, and the temple bears a fine and fresh new look.
