Pavavimochana Peruman Temple and Bala Subramaniya Swamy Temple is located in Thiruvidaikazhi near Thirukkadaiyur in Nagapattinam district of Tamilnadu. Both Lord Shiva and Lord Muruga are present in same the Garbhagriha. Thiruvidaikazhi or Thirukuravadi is 6 kms from Thirukadaiyur and is a Rahu Kethu and Sevvai parihara sthalam. This is one of the Thiruvisaippa Shiva Sthalam. Arunagirinathar in Thirupugazh and Senthanar in Thiruvisaippa have sung hymns in praise of Lord Sri Subramaniyar and Shiva of this temple. Senthanar Swamigal attained Mukthi in this sthalam.

Legends
According to Sthala Puranam, Lord Balasubramanian killed Surapadman in Thiruchendur and then killed Surapadman's son Hiranya Suran in this Sthalam. After the battle Lord Murugan offered prayers to Lord Shiva or Papavinasamurthi to wash away his sins and got the blessings of his father.
It is also said that Rahu offered prayers to the Murugar in this temple.
The sthala puranam says this is the place where the Nichayathaartham (betrothal) was happened for Muruga and Theyvanai.
The Temple
The Moolavar, Lord Murugan showers his blessings facing east under Thiru Kura tree. A Shivalingam is situated at the back of Moolvar towards the side of Northwest facing in east direction and a Spatika linga is situated in the front. Goddess Devayanai has a separate Sannadhi in this shrine. Both Lord Shiva and Lord Muruga are present in same the Garbhagriha. Lord Shiva is on his left indicating that Sri Subramanya swami performs pooja to Lord Siva.

There is no Sannadhi for Sri Valli. The Sthala Vriksham is Thirukura Maram. Presiding Deity Shiva is called as Babavinasa Peruman and Presiding Deity Murugan is called as Balasubramaniar. There is no Shrine present here Shiva Consort. There is no Navagraha Sannadhi. There are Iyannar Sannadhis around this place. In artha mandapam Nandhi and elephant are located. Deivanai is also in the "Thapas Kolam" performing penance to marry Lord Muruga.

In the inner and outer Praharams, one can find more Siva Lingams so that a visit to this temple is equivalent to seeing Lingams in four Siva temples. In the outermost praharam, one can find the Adi Lingam under a tree. The temple Gopuram illustrates stories from Kandha Puranam. Another interesting feature is that the Dwajasthambam has both Pillayar and Murugar seated next to each other at the base.

Normally, one will find only Pillayar at the base of the Dwajasthambam. Devotees come in Padayathra from Chidambaram in the Tamil month of Purattasi and devotees come in Padayathra from Sikkal (where Lord Murugar got Sakthivel from Ambal) in the Tamil month of Vaikasi.

Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam is a Saivite mutt based in the town of Thiruvaduthurai in Kuthalam Taluk of Nagapattinam District, Tamilnadu. The Adheenam maintains the Mayuranathaswami temple at Mayiladuthurai. As of 1987, there were a total of 15 Shiva Temples under the control of the Adheenam. The Adheenam is involved in publishing Saivite literature, specifically Thevaram and Tiruvasagam and its translations. It is also involved in literary scholarship.

Some of the prominent Tamil literary personalities like Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai had their tutorship in the Adheenam. His disciple U V Swaminatha Iyer, who published many Tamil classical texts also was associated with the organization. The Adheenam along with Thiruppanandal Adheenam and Dharmapuram Adheenam were founded during the 16th century to spread the ideology of Saiva Sidhantam.

Thirukolakka Sapthapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Keezhai Thirukolakka in Nagapattinam District of Tamilnadu. The historical name of the place is Sapthapuri. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Sapthapureeswarar. His consort is known as Osai Kodutha Nayaki. It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnana Sambandar and Sundarar.

The temple is known as Thiru Thalam Udayar temple. It is a small temple with 2 prakarams. This temple is located at about 1 km from Sirkazhi. Tirukkolakka is considered to be the 15th of the Thevara Sthalangal located to the North of the river Kaveri in the Chola region of Tamilnadu. The temple is located just behind the Ulagalandha Perumal temple. It is about a kilometer distance from Brahmapureeswarar Temple on the banks of River Uppanaru. Those aspiring excellence in music pray in the temple.

The Temple
This small temple covering an area of about three fourths of an acre has 2 prakarams. The Surya Theertham and Anandha Theertham are located in front of the temple. Lord Shiva in the temple is a swayambumurthy. The presiding deity is called as Shabdapureesar / Thalapureeswarar and the Ambal is called as Osai Kodutha Nayaki. Thirukkolakka temple was a brick construction during Chola period. Later Nagarathar re-built the same using Granites. The Temple is 230 feet in length East-west and 155 feet in width in North-south.

Vrushbaruda Darshan of Lord on the west of front entrance near a spring, Vahana mandapas are located near the entrance of the temple. Shrines of four Saivite saints, Adhikara Nandhi greet the devotees.  Lords Vinayaka, Somaskanda, Subramania, Mother Lakshmi, Sani Bhagwan, Lord Bhairava and Sun shrines are in the prakara. Procession deities are safely kept in the Mandapam right of the prakara. Mother Ambica is in a separate shrine. Of the procession deities, noteworthy is the one of Saint Gnana Sambandar holding the golden plate. Lords Vinayaka, Dakshinamurthi, Lingodhbava, Brahmma and Mother Durga are on the goshta walls.

Shrines for Periya pillaiyar, Mahalakshmi, Sri Valli Devasena Subramanyam, Sri Dakshinamurthy, Sri Suryamurthy, Sri Chandra Murthy, Arulmigu Nalvar, and Pancha lingas are located in the Temple premises. In the southeastern side, is the Sthala Viruksham Kondrai tree, grown from a single root into 3 Kondrai trees indicating the presence of Trimurthis Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. There is Somaskandar (Muruga in kid form between Shiva-Parvathy).

Festivals
Four worship services are offered each day here. Chithirai Tiruvadhirai festival in April-May is celebrated in Sirkali Sattainathar temple with the milk Utsav on the second day. After this event, Saint Gnanasambandar comes to this temple, when Lord Shiva gives the golden plate to the saint. The saint returns to the first temple in a flower decorated palanquin. Theerthavari is celebrated on all Karthikai Sundays in November-December.
Literary Mention
Saint Sundarar in his Thevaram hymn had mentioned the mercy of the Lord in gifting Thalams – sound producing instrument – to Saint Gnana Sambandar.  This is the 15th Shiva Temple on the northern bank of Cauvery praised in Thevaram hymns.
Tirugnanasambandar describes the feature of the deity as:

Prayers
Those unable to speak and facing stammering problems bathe in the Ananda Theertha and pray to Ambica to bless them with the sound as she introduced the sound to a metal plate (Osai in Tamil means sound,  Kodutha means given and Nayaki Mother Goddess).  Hence mother is called by the name Osai Kodutha Nayaki. Lord gave the plate to the saint but it was Mother who gave the life to it with the sound). 
Devotees place honey at the feet of Mother, perform archanas and consume it then. As this is also the place where Mother Mahalakshmi performed penance on Lord Vishnu seeking his hands, women pray in the shrine on Mondays and Fridays for 6 weeks continuously with turmeric archanas to realize their wedding wish. Realizing their wish-speech ability-devotees offer gold plates to Lord.

Thalapureeswarar and Osai Kodutha Nayaki:
Saint Gnanasambandar, fed with the wisdom milk by Mother Parvathi, visited many Shiva temples singing his praise clapping his hands in ecstasy. Seeing the little saint clapping his hands, to relieve him from the pain of doing so, Lord gave him two golden plates, but they produced no sound. Mother infused the sound energy into them. Hence, Lord is praised as Thalapureeswarar and Mother Osai Kodutha Nayaki.

When Lord Vishnu in his Narasimha avatar killed Hiranyakasipu and drank his blood, he developed demonic qualities and set out to destroy the worlds. On seeing this, the petrified Devas approached Lord Shiva and sought his merciful protection. Lord Shiva, assuming the form of Sri Sarabhesvara, quelled the wrath of Sri Narasimha. Goddess Mahalakshmi, on seeing this, prayed to Lord Shiva requesting him to give back her husband. Lord Shiva asked her to perform penance in Kondrai vanam near Sirkazhi.
Sri Mahalakshmi performed austere penance. Lord Shiva, pleased by her penance, got her married to Sri Vishnu. With the divine wedding taking place in the Kondrai forest, the place henceforth came to be known as ‘Thirukkolakka’ .From then, the place is known as Thirukolakka (Thiru in Tamil – Sri Mahalakshmi, Kola – Wedding darshan of Sri Mahalakshmi and Sri Vishnu, Ka- forest)
Surya became leader of three worlds by praying to Shiva:
Once Surya and Indra got into an argument to decide who is mightier and better. They went to Deva Guru, Brihaspati. Brihaspati advised Surya not to fight with Indra as he is the leader of all Devas. Disappointed Surya met Sri Naradha Maharishi who advised him to perform Penance towards Shiva in Kondrai vanam near Sirkazhi. Surya created Surya Pushkarini and performed Penance for long time.
Shiva pleased with Penance of Surya and asked him for his wish. Surya asked Shiva for leadership of all 3 worlds and his devotees to receive health, wealth and prosperity. Shiva granted the boons and made Surya as leader for Navagrahas. Surya received these boons on a Sunday of Karthika month (October- November). Every year on Sundays of Karthika month, Surya Pooja performed for Panchamurthis.

Naganathaswami Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Thirukkalachery in Nagapattinam District of Tamilnadu. As per Hindu Legend, Brahma and Shiva had a problem arised due to dice game and Brahma laughed at Shiva. Angry Shiva cursed Brahma to become a Snake. Brahma came to this place and got relieved of Lord Shiva curse. As per another legend, Shiva cursed Mother Parvathi to become Thirukura Tree. Parvathi came to this place and got relieved of Lord Shiva curse. It is believed that Ashta Bhairavars guarded this village during Parvathi penance.









This place is also called as Vanmiga Natha Puram and Gynanapuram. Presiding Deity is called as Naganathar and Mother is called as Sivagama Sundari. Varadharaja Perumal along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi graces devotees from separate shrine facing west direction. It is believed Parvathi in Thirukura Tree form is worshipping Lord Shiva here. People pray to Naganathar to get rid of Naga Doshams and Planetary Doshams.

Thiru Payatrunathar Temple  is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thiru Payathangudi Village in Nagapattinam Taluk in Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Thiru Payatrunathar / Muktapureeswarar and Mother is called as Kaaviya Kanni / Nethrambigai. This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram hymns. This Temple is the 195th Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 78th sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu.

History

The Temple is believed to be built in 6th century CE and was completely reconstructed in granite by Cholas. The temple was extensively renovated by Thanjavur Nayak Kings and Nattukottai Chettiyars. Inscriptions dated to Chola King Rajaraja Chola III can be found in this temple. His inscriptions records the gifts and grant of lands made to this temple. The last consecration ceremony was performed in 06th June 2011.

Special poojas are conducted of Aadi Fridays for Ambal and Karthigai Somavaram to Lord Shiva. Monthly pradoshams are also observed here.
