Pidari Mangaliyamman Temple, Anna Nagar, Chennai
Pidari Mangaliyamman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated
to Goddess Sakthi located at Anna Nagar, well-known locality of Chennai City in
Tamil Nadu. This Temple is situated on
3rd main road near Nalli Silks.
History
The Temple is believed to be 300 years old. It is
believed that the presiding diety, Pidari Mangaliyamman was the village deity
protecting the ancient Naduvakarai Village, presently called as Anna Nagar.
Shrines of Siddhi Vinayaga was added in 1974 and Shrines of Maha Lingeshwarar,
Kamakshi Amman, Subramanya Swamy, Baktha Anjaneya, Navagrahas were added
in1991. Five tiered Rajagopuram was built in 2003. Initially this temple contained only Goddess Adi Pidari Mangaliyamman,
later a sprawling temple was constructed in the year 1990 and the Kumbabishekam
performed in 1992.
The Temple
Though the Temple belongs to
Pidari Mangaliyamman. Currently the presiding deity is Mahalingeswarar with his
consort Goddess Kamakshi. There are
shrines for Ganesha, Lord Murugan with consorts Valli & Deivanai, Pidari
Mangaliyamman, Adi Pidari Mangaliyamman, Baktha Anjaneya
and Navagrahas.
Temple Opening Time
The Temple remains open from 06:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M and
05:00 P.M to 08:30 P.M. On Tuesdays, the Temple remains open from 06:00 A.M to
11:00 A.M and 03:00 P.M to 08:30 P.M. On Fridays, the Temple remains open from
06:00 A.M to 12:00 Noon and 05:00 P.M to 08:30 P.M.
