Sundareswarar Temple,
Veppathur, Thanjavur
Sundareswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Veppathur Village in Thiruvidaimarudur Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar and Mother is called as Meenakshi. Veppathur is situated between River Cauvery and Pazhavaru River.
The Temple
This Temple is facing towards
east with single tiered Rajagopuram. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found
immediately after the entrance facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum
consists of Maha Mandapam, Artha Mandapam and Sanctum. Presiding Deity is
called as Sundareswarar. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. He
is facing east. Mother is called as Meenakshi. She is housed in a separate
south facing shrine. Her shrine is situated in Maha Mandapam.
There are shrines for Vinayaga,
Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Dakshinamoorthy and
Chandikeswarar in the Temple premises. There is well inside the Temple
premises. There is a Temple pond situated opposite to the Temple. Sthala
Vriksham is Vilwa Tree. Naga Idols can be found below the Tree. The main
failure for this temple is access path. As the path is small and the area is
remote, many of the peoples are not interested to visit.

situated on Kallanai to Poompuhar Route.
