Kamaraj Sagar Dam, Ooty, Nilgiris
Kamaraj Sagar Dam is located in picturesque Nilgiris Hills near Ooty Hill Station in Ooty Taluk
of Nilgiris District of Tamilnadu. It is also known as Sandynalla
reservoir. It is a picnic spot and a film shooting spot on the slopes of the
Wenlock Downs. There is a pine forest located adjacent to the dam and it is a
home to a variety of animals like the barking deer, Indian bison, monkey, boar
etc.
The Dam is situated near the town of Ooty in a small
place named Kandal that features ancient towering trees thus offering a serene

29 Kms from Coonoor, 39 Kms from Kotagiri, 60 Kms from Mettupalayam Railway
Station and 100 Kms from Coimbatore Airport. Private Taxis are available from
Ooty and Coonoor to reach this place. Kamaraj Sagar Dam is located near
Ooty-Gundlupet-Coimbatore highway.
