Kailasanathar Temple,

Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu
Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thandangorai Village in Thanjavur
Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. The Temple is
famously called as Arthanareeswarar Temple by the locals. Presiding Deity is
called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Sarvaloka Nayagi / Sarvaloka
Janani. The Temple is considered as
Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns had a mention about this Temple.
The Temple
This is an east facing temple
with an entrance arch from south. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar
and is east facing. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Dakshinamoorthy
and Durga are the Koshta Idols located around the sanctum walls. Mother is
called as Sarvaloka Nayagi / Sarvaloka Janani. She is housed in a separate
south facing shrine. There are shrines for Vinayagar, Lord Murugan with his
consorts Valli & Deivanai, Gajalakshmi, Chandikeswarar and Navagrahas in
the temple premises.

The
Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Sundarar
had a mention about this Temple. The Temple is mentioned in 7th Thirumurai
in 12th Patikam in 2nd Song.

from Trichy Airport. The Temple is situated on Thanjavur to Kumbakonam Route.
