Sheshashayi Varada Raja Perumal
Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Seshampadi Village
near Kumbakonam Town in Kumbakonam Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu.
This Temple is considered as Parihara Sthalam for Pitru Doshas. This Temple is
sacred for performing Karunya Tharpanam. It is a Tharpanam ceremony performed
for the wellbeing of all beings. Those who have consumed meat should perform
this Tharpanam to cleanse themselves from the sins of killings the animals.
Legends
Adhi Sesha, chief among the
Ashta Nagas, worshipped here to get physical strength. Hence, Adhi Sesha stayed
here during his worship, the village came to be called as Seshampadi.
The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Seshayee
Varadaraja Perumal. He is housed in the sanctum flanked by Bhudevi and
Neeladevi. There is another shrine for Venugopala Swamy along with his consorts
Rukmini and Satyabhama in the temple premises. There are also shrines for
Vinayagar and Anjaneyar in the Temple premises.
Festivals
Garuda Sevai, Radha Kalyanam and
Koodarai Valli are the festivals celebrated here with much fanfare.

Temple is situated on Kumbakonam to Valangaiman Route.
