Kundala Karaneshwarar Temple, Thirukkurankaval – Religious Significance

Paadal Petra Sthalams:

The Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams (Shiva Sthalams) glorified in the early medieval Thevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Appar. This Temple is considered as the 82nd Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 28th Sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu.

Pancha Ka Sthalams:

This Temple is considered as one of the five Sthalams whose name ends with “Ka” (“Ka” means “a beautiful garden” in Tamil).

They are:

·        Thiruvanaikka

·        Thirukkodikka

·        Thirukolakka

·        Tirunellikka

·        Thirukurakkukka
