Brihadeeswarar Temple – Festivals
People treat Day of Ruling star or satabhishekam as one festival day in every month during a year, as it symbolizes a ruling star when Raja Raja was born.
In month of May or Visakam according to English calendar, an annual festival took place for nine days. Devotees bath their deity with Champaka flower fragrance soaked water. 
Chithirai Madham – Brahmotsavam – 18 days festival – on the day of Sathaya Natchathiram, people raises the flag and During Chithirai Natchathiram Theerthavari takes place.
Aipasi – Raja Raja Cholan birth day function - Grand function takes place during Sathaya Natchathiram.  On that day festival happens continuously, from morning 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM. on that day swamy roaring takes place.
During Aipasi month god decoration happens with full of foods, it will take place as a grand function
Special poojas will be conducted during the days of Thiruvathirai, Aadipooram, and karthigai.
Every pradosha day’s large number of people will come to temple to seek Lord Shiva Blessings.
Special function takes place at the time of Deepavali, Pongal, and New Year.

·  Natyanjali - Celebrated annually in the month of February, this dance festival is organized to pay obeisance to Lord Brihadeeswarar.

·        Panchami Abhishekam for Goddess Varahi Every Panchami in a Fortnight
·        Asada Navarathri for Varahi - 12 Days
·        Astami Abhishekam for Lord Bairavar Every Ashtami in a fortnight
·        Girivalam Every full Moon day
