Alappancode
Easwara Kala Bhoothathan Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Sastha
located at Edaicode in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is a
very ancient and known centre of pilgrimage for the devotees of Alappancode
Ammavan (Lord Ayyappa). The
Temple is under the administration of hereditary trustees (Trustees will be the
eldest members of the four families of same origin named Mattaeppally, Kizhakae
Veedu-1, Kizhakae veedu-2 and Kokkuvilakam).
In Tamil
Nadu Alappancode is the only temple where many caparisoned elephants are
participating in the annual festival. Every year more than twenty five
decorated elephants are joining for the procession. The procession will start
from the Kariyathara Temple in Anducode and finishes in Alappancode and the
procession will cover about seven kilometers. Devotees from Kerala and Tamil
Nadu are gathering here to see the festival. The festival will be held on the
last Saturday of December every year.

The
Temple remains open from 5.30 AM to 10.30 AM and 5.00 PM to 6.30 PM daily. The
sanctum will only be opened till 12.30 AM on all Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Temple is located at about 5 Kms from Marthandam, 5 Kms from Kuzhithurai, 3 Kms
from Anducode, 5 Kms from Vilavancode, 19 Kms from Thuckalay, 22 Kms from Colachel,
33 Kms from Nagercoil, 57 Kms from Kanyakumari and 43 Kms from
Thiruvananthapuram. Nearest Railway Station is located at Kuzhithurai and
Nearest Airport is located at Thiruvananthapuram.
