Srinivasa Perumal Temple (Vedanta Desikar Temple),

Srinivasa Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Vishnu located at Mylapore in Chennai City in Tamilnadu. The Temple is
also called as Vedanta Desikar Temple. The Temple follows Vadakalai Sampradayam.
That is the reason, the Raja Gopuram of the temple is facing North outside
their Sannidhi. This temple though popular in Mylapore may not be known in
other parts of Madras. The Temple is administered by the Vedanta Desikar Devastanam
(SVDD). It is located just beside the Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, which has an
imposing gopuram that can be seen from quite a distance.

History
Although
the age of the temple is not clear the Idols of Vedanta Desikar and
Lakshmi Hayagriva has been in existence here for more than 350 years. Idols
of Lord Srinivasa and Goddess Alarmelmangai were installed much later in 1924.
The temple, however, continues to be known by the name of the acharya. The
temple has been notified as one of historic importance by the Government of
India in the year 1973.

temple is open from 6.30 am to 11. am in the mornings and 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm in
the evenings.

This is
a very active and vibrant temple with Urchavams all through the year like Thiru
Aadi Pooram & Neerattu Uthsavam (10 days) for Andal; Utsavams commemorating
the Thiru Nakshatrams of Azhwars and Acharyas; Sri Bhashayakarar Uthsavam (10
days) culminating in the Satrumurai on Chithirai Thiruvadirai; 10-day Uthsavam
for Peyazhwar concluding on Aippasi Sathayam, the Azhwar’s Avathara
day; Sri Rama Navami Uthsavam for 10 days etc., Hayagriva Aradhanai celebrated
in a grand manner on the seventh day of Desikan Uthsavam is very special.
