Prasanna Venkatachalapathy Temple is a Hindu Temple
dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Perumalmalai Hills near Thuraiyur in Trichy District of
Tamilnadu. The Temple lies
on top of Perumalmalai 960 feet above ground level in Pachaimalai hills and has
1532 steps. There is also a motorable road of about 5 kms till the top. It will
take about 15 minutes in vehicle and about an hour in walking through steps. This
temple is said to be constructed by the grandson of Karikal Chozhan.

Festivals
All the
Saturdays of Tamil month of 'Puratasi' (September – October) are celebrated in
a grand manner. Large nos. of devotees come from nearby places to have darshan
of Perumal on the hill. Hundreds of devotees are taking part in the Girivalam
procession around the Perumalmalai hillock on all full-moon days. Chithirai -
First day special Abhishekam, Vaikasi – Thiruvona Nakshatra – Sravana Urchavam
– Thiru Kalyanam (holy marriage), Karthigai – Deepa is lit at top the hill, Margazhi
– Vaikunda Ekadashi – Urchavar appears at Ekadasi Mandapam and Thai – Full Moon
day – Garuda Seva are the festivals celebrated with much fanfare.

Temple is located at about 10 Kms from Thuraiyur, 9 Kms from Thuraiyur Bus
Stand, 41 Kms from Perambalur, 42 Kms Samayapuram, 47 Kms from Srirangam and 54
Kms from Trichy. This temple is situated on the Thuraiyur – Perambalur road.
Prasanna Venkatachalapathy temple lies at the top of Perumalmalai that lies 960
feet above ground level in Pachaimalai hills and has 1532 steps. The
local trustees have ensured maintenance of a fine Ghat road of around 5 km so
vehicles can reach the top of the hill easily. It will take about 15 minutes in
vehicle and about an hour in walking through steps. Nearest Railway Station is
located at Trichy (58 Kms) and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy (59 Kms).
