King Vikramaditya built this Temple:
King Vikramaditya ruled the Madya Pradesh with the capital of Ujjain. He lived in the country as well as forest for each six months respectively. Whenever he goes he brought the Kali idol to worship. When he came to Makalikudi forest and worship the kali idol, he cannot take the Kali idol after the prayer from this place.
