Kailasanathar
Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Big Bazaar Street in
Trichy City in Trichy District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar
and Mother is called as Kamalambikai.
This Temple is considered as one of the
Pancha Bhootha Sthalams around Trichy City. There are Shiva temples for 5
elements of nature (Land, Water, Fire, Air, and Space) inside Trichy and they

The
Temple
The
Temple does not have Rajagopuram and it has entrance arch facing the road. Presiding
Deity is called as Kailasanathar. The sanctum enshrines small Shiva Linga
called as Kailasanathar. Only Dakshina Murti and Durga are found as the niche
images in the sanctum walls. Chandikeswarar is found in his usual location.
Mother is called as Kamalambikai. The shrine of the Goddess Kamalambikai is
located adjacent to the sanctum. The sanctum as well as the shrine of the
Goddess face east, the same direction.
The
idols of Surya, Bhairava and Hanuman are also located in this small
temple. The Shrines of Ganesh and Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli and
Devasena are also located in this temple. Among Navagraha, Surya alone is found
with his consorts; all eight planets are found facing towards him. Only the
temples in Trichy and Thanjavur regions have this sort of Navagraha. In the
other regions, each planet is facing in his own direction and not everyone
faces Surya.

Chatiram Bus Station and 10 Kms from Trichy Airport.
