Pidari Iraniyamman Temple, Thiruvanaikoil, Trichy
Pidari
Iraniyamman Temple is a Hindu Temple located in Kallanai Road in Thiruvanaikoil
near Trichy City in Trichy District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is a sub temple
of Thiruvanaikoil Jambukeswarar Temple. Amman of this Temple is considered as
Kaval Deivam (Protector God/Goddess) of Thiruvanaikoil. Usually the temple of
that God/Goddess will be at the boundary of that village. Pidari Iraniyamman is
also called as Ellai Amman / Pidari Amman. This Ellaiamman is an Ugra Devatha
(Goddess with Fury).
It’s
believed that Ellaiamman is formed from the sweat of Goddess Devi
Akilandeswari. Ellaiamman protects the Thiruvanaikoil village from the evil.
The temple of the Ellaiamman is in the South East corner outside the
Thiruvanaikoil temple. Every year in the month of Thai a five-day festival is
celebrated for this Goddess and the Goddess is taken into procession in side
all streets of village in four different Vahanams (Yanai – Elephant, Kudhirai –
Horse, Bootham and Ther – Chariot).

Station, 4 Kms from Trichy Chathiram Bus Stand, 7 Kms from Trichy, 11 Kms from Trichy
Central Bus Stand, 11 Kms from Trichy Railway Station and 12 Kms from Trichy
